TSA and staple question

I was sent to secondary screening on both ends of my trip. Two airports detected something around my waist. I had nothing metal in my pockets or on clothes. Is it possible that 6 months after surgery the staple line can be detected deep inside my body or that I'm starting to get a little extra skin. The security seems really tight this trip. They also used the wipe on my hands.

It's not the staples. The excess empty skin around our waist and sometimes arms will make the scanners go off. It's pretty common.

Yep, staples are titanium I think which should not set off detectors. My brother had a surgery with some steel implants and he kept a picture of his x rays on his phone so he could show the TSA. Even wads of kleenex in my pockets have drawn attention. And my fit bit many years ago also did. DS
