Which is better?
I have finally been prescribed v y v a n s e for my eating disorder, it took a lot of prayer and visiting different doctors before one would listen. I went to see my surgeon today and he prescribed phentermine 37.5. Which should I choose? I have to do something as my weight is going up. I got a new order to see the nutritionist and I am in therapy, so for the first time in a long time I am hopeful about getting back on track and staying there. Thanks for your time.

None of us here are doctors. You should talk to a professional about this decision.

This is something to talk with your medical team about. That said, Vyvanse is the only medication that is FDA approved for treatment of Binge Eating Disorder. Does your surgeon know that you have a prescription for Vyvanse? Did your surgeon tell you to take both? Why did your surgeon prescribe Phentermine?

What is with the spaces between the letters in Vyvanse?!
Binge eating disorder isn't about appetite, so, if you have BED, an appetite suppressant won't treat it. Definitely talk to your psychiatrist about this.

I agree with the previous posters. Please, take the time to address this with your doctor/nursing staff AND surgical team. Make sure they understand that you have now been given two different medications that are often not prescribed together.
While I am not a doctor, I always check drug interactions with my doctor and pharmacist before taking anything new. A search with those medications shows that they can cause negative interactions with each other, so make sure your doctor and team knows that you are going to be taking both of them if that's what you end up doing and that's why they intended.
On another note, Vyvanse really helped me. If this is what your team/therapist/doctor advises, it has helped a lot of people with Binge. I was diagnosed with B.E.D. awhile back. I'm still in therapy. Unfortunately, it caused me some really agitating heart palpitations after a few months and my psychiatrist and doctor agreed that it should be discontinued. I had already made some strides in therapy, so I feel confident in my future at this time.
Good luck!!

Not sure about the vyanese, but the phentermine is a heavy duty drug (it acts very much like an amphetimine). It is terrible for your heart, and is only suppose to be used a couple months with breaks in between. I used it for awhile, didn't like it, and had a friend that became addicted to it. Be very careful with that drug, and if you are going to take it, take it exactly as prescribed. If you have any heart problems it would be contraindicated. Wishing you the best.
