I have so enjoyed reading all your posts and this one brought tears to my eyes. DS had some good friends in elementary school whose Mom reminds me of you and her DH was supportive in the same ways. I so loved working with her on school projects (she volunteered for everything), but worried about her. DS took a couple of her daughters to proms in high school so I saw her again and she was losing even more mobility (she walked with difficulty when I first met her, was in a chair by the end of elementary school and her world had narrowed down a lot by this point). I hope and pray that she is working toward better health as you are.

Thank you for sharing this story and being so honest. I think that the deception with self is such a huge part of this disease/addiction we have. Even though I was able to maintain some of my lap-band weight loss over the years I was so unhealthy. I was being debilitated by my eating habits, drinking of alcohol, and I justified it all because I wasn't that overweight. Truth be told, I was 100lbs over weight before my VSG. My blood sugar was high and I had symptoms of someone with much more severe diabetes. Not to mention how drinking 2-3 beers every night (more on weekends) was probably wreaking havoc on my body.
I think this is going to be one of my goals for the year...BEING HONEST WITH MYSELF.
I'm just so happy for you and for all you have accomplished. Let's remember how much we love living and keep working on the head issues.

Wow! What a great start to the year. Keep up the good work. Think of all the other NSVs ahead of you. Remember this when you get frustrated at some point - because we all do and forget the great progress we've made.
I'm so happy for you! I know there will be more to come for you. Two of my nsv's happened this fall: no problem fitting in a theatre seat that wasn't one of the newer monster recliners and no problem maneuvering myself and my belongings in a regular-size public restroom stall. Those two things gave me encouragement. I'm flying for the first time since my late July surgery this Wed. I couldn't find my seatbelt extender that fits on Southwest, so I ordered one last night from Amazon. I'm hoping I don't have to use it and can return for a refund or it will be the last trip where I need one and can give it away or sell it on EBay!
