Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Friday 1/5/18
Morning! Most of the schools here are closed due to -45 degree windchills. Our school, however, sent a 'suck it up buttercup, you live in the north' email and is very much having school, LOL. Our school has no walkers or group bus pickups, so there's really no reason to cancel but I have seen other schools where that would also be the case closed today.
QOTD: What is one big thing in your life, other than your weight, that has changed since you had VSG? I was thinking about this last night and I never used to be so routine based with my food. I actually used to tell people that I liked a variety of tastes and that's why I ordered an appetizer, a meal, and all the sides I could manage. Close to a year out and eggs and yogurt are still my two favorite foods and I would turn down (most) meals out for them.

Good morning after the big Northeast storm. It didn't amount to much on Cape Cod, but did set records in Boston. Unbelievably our 11:15 am flight hasn't been cancelled or delayed though JetBlue cancelled 7 of 9 flights from Boston to Fort Myers today. So I'm getting ready hoping a cancellation isn't coming.
QOTD: Do you mean a change which is WLS related? My biggest change is loving fish (of all types, raw or cooked). I used to eat some cooked mild fish but it was never first on my list (so I rarely ordered it at a restaurant).
1 year, 9 months post-op
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Protein bar (if traveling)

It's Friday and the guys were both able to go into work today. Yay. Although our development hasn't been plowed yet, which is crappy and unusual. I'm planning on spending the day working through my HUGE reading list for GERO and knocking some tasks off my to do list. I was able to put a dent in it yesterday and I finished my first book of the year as well! w00t.
QOTD: I attribute my return to college 100% to having had VSG and losing weight. I doubt I would have if I were still SMO. I definitely wouldn't have majored in Exercise and Sport Science. I found my calling due to participation in fitness classes and my efforts to reclaim my health. If I hadn't had those experiences, I'd probably still be spending my life doing not much of anything. As I've said in comments - WLS didn't let me live my dreams, it let me dream things I'd never even considered dreaming :)
1: protein shake
2: so do you ever look in the fridge and realize that someone else left a minuscule amount of something and you know that no one else will eat it because it wouldn't make a meal for anyone else? Yeah. That happened this morning. A certain someone took brisket for lunch, but didn't fini**** off, so there's a portion that's too small even for me left. I'll be having some concoction with it... I'm thinking some frankenstein brisket migas.
3: if my chicken thaws - Roast Chicken with Sumac, Za'atar, and Lemon; Cauliflower and Cumin Fritters with Lime Yogurt (last recipes for the week from Ottolenghi)
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: yoga at home since fitness classes were cancelled due to weather

Morning! Wow.... -45 degree windchills....I was upset that it was 16 degrees this morning!
QOTD: Well, it''ll have been a month on January 14th! I'm decently pleased with my progress, but I don't know if I can attribute anything to it just yet. I think I've hit a stall (which is weird, because I've UPPed my water over the past week) because I'm sitting at 328 and I was 331 a week ago...I was losing at least a pound or more a day. I'm trying to stay positive and focus on protein foods and water, though. I need to eliminate more carbs, but they've all come from sugar-free popsicles, syrups, veggies, etc. Carbs are still carbs, though. :-) I've been planning a cruise for my wife and I in December of this year. That gives us enough time to pay it off and prepare. I don't think I would be planning it if I wasn't moderately sure I would be much, much smaller by then. It's hard to move around when you're over 300 pounds, as many of you well know!
B: 11 oz. decaf sugar-free, nonfat latte (Going to cut this out completely for the next week or two and see)
L: 3 oz. tilapia, babybel cheese
D: Unkown...I have a play I have to attend and I work an hour away from my house, so I won't be home until about 10 p.m. I brought two packets of protein soup from BariatricPal, probably have one of those and then an ounce or two of turkey when I get home.
Snacks: 2 oz. plain, fat-free Greek Yogurt, premier protein chocolate (whole shake hopefully!)

It's normal for people to stall around the 3rd week. Are you going to replace your latte with morning protein?

I add a little extra skim to it with some premier protein usually so it does have SOME protein, but I think I am going to replace it with a whole protein shake for a couple weeks. I think that will make the difference, I just like a nice hot drink in the morning usually.
I found some hot protein drink recipes on Bariatric Foodie. I think I'm going to try a couple and see if any of them work for me.

There are protein coffees out there too.. I think Click makes them? (I'm not 100% sure because I'm not a coffee drinker!) There are also a number of mocha powders by various companies :D

You're welcome! People here used to mention them pretty frequently, but I think those people have wandered off so don't post as much anymore?
