I also have a lot of pain laying on my back on a hard surface. When I was doing the Kettlebell class I would have to double up yoga mats for the floor portion!

I find that I'm not really appealed to most carbs anymore - pasta, rice, crackers, bagels, pizza dough of any kind. None of that makes the feelers kick in. I have a little appeal to fresh bread in a bread basket, but a sandwich or roll, not so much. However, pie/cake/cookies/sweets in general (minus candy) - still love them.

But, that means I save my naughtiness for those very occasional dips into really rich desserts, I guess? During the summer I wanted soft serve ice cream, but that has little appeal when it's -10. Ha! Oh and popcorn. It will still always have my heart. Stupid heart.

Good Morning! I hope everyone is staying warm. I will spare you all the details of what the high will be in Phoenix today. You can all razz me in the summer when it's 115+.

QOTD: My biggest fear is just avoiding carbs and being able to keep up the protein forward diet. I'm not afraid of any one food, but want to make sure I can maximize this window and get as much weight off as possible.

B: coffee w/HH & Greek yogurt with mixed nuts

S1: 1/2 protein shake

L: salami, cheese, and cut zucchini with a bit of hummus

S2: 1/2 protein shake

D: TBD the DH has to go to the grocery

E: walking at work

W/V: on track (I managed to get 100% of my vitamins in yesterday)

Good morning! It's going to get above 32 degrees today...YAY! Mississippians are NOT happy about the single-digit temperatures...some shops and stores have even been closed, haha!

QOTD: Well, nothing has "scared" me. I've only eaten what's been on my list, even though some things on there are too carb-heavy in my opinion, so I haven't tried. For instance, my plan says that I can have 1/2 cup of pasta 3-5 times a week, 2 servings of whole-wheat toast a week, etc. I've avoided these because I want to keep up my fast weight-loss for as long as possible. I literally have not had bread since November (pre-surgery) so I guess you could say I am nervous about it. I may have my favorite sandwich (half) on my birthday next month though. Turkey, Havarti, and smashed avocado on extra crispy wheat bread was my go-to sandwich. We'll see. I haven't had any cravings for my previous favorite foods for some reason. My family had pizza the other night and it didn't bother me at all. They made homemade chili-mac the other night...I had a taste of the sauce and ate my chicken and was fine! I don't really seem to want sweets anymore, either. I bought some fruity cottage cheeses, but I really prefer it with salt and pepper now. Strange. :-)

B: tall decaf skinny (nonfat) vanilla latte

L: 2 oz cottage cheese and 1 oz. deer sausage (from a friend at work, he shot his first deer of the season over the break!)

D: 3 oz. tilapia, 1 oz. stewed tomatoes

Snacks: premier chocolate shake, protein soup mix from bariatricpal, babybel cheese

Ladyblu! My sister made me some boiled cabbage two nights ago (she uses some light-sodium chicken stock with half water, cajun seasoning, slices of onion, a few cloves of smashed garlic, salt, pepper, a little chili powder) and it was DELICIOUS. She cooked it very soft for me and I had a couple spoonfuls with my tilapia. I am a CABBAGE FAN now! :-) She also roasts it in foil, but she uses butter with the wedges so I haven't tried that yet. I may try it without butter, but I think it'll need at least a little olive oil cooking spray for moisture.

QOTD: I was terrified of popcorn. I've had some since I was given the all clear for foods, and it wasn't bad. I still can't do raw veggies or dense fruits like apples.

Breakfast: Coffee (was swamped at work and couldn't eat my Greek yogurt)

Snack: String cheese

Lunch: Meatloaf and mashed potatoes

Dinner: Pork chop, black eyed peas, collard greens w/cabbage

Good afternoon! Posting a little late today. We are in a heat wave too Erin, it's up to 19 degrees!! I'm a little overwhelmed today getting myself and my mother ready to fly out to Palm Springs tomorrow. I have a lot to do, but am going to take it one step at a time:-) The weather is supposed to be in the low 80's while we are there, I will take anything above 32 degrees at this point! A good friend of mine plus my aunt and uncle live there in the winter, it will be nice to get together with them. We are having a birthday party for my mom at her favorite restaurant on the 7th. The only negative is I am getting a chest cold and my mom has a sore throat. This always happens when I go out of town!

I'm going to try really hard to stay protein forward while gone and will still post on the menu thread to keep accountable.

QOTD-Asparagus, celery and beef scared me at first. The surgical team told me I would never be able to eat asparagus or celery, so that is why I feared it so much. I have never had a problem with either, but I waited 6 months or so to try them.

B-Plain greek yogurt with SF vanilla syrup, 1tbsp pumpkin and pumpkin seeds

L-Left over beef brisket

S-Chai tea w/cream & stevia, string cheese

D-Deli chicken?? tbd

E-Walk on river trail if it has been plowed

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

I admit, if I had been told "no asparagus ever again" for WLS, I might have opted not to have surgery!

I really like it too Gwen, we used to pick wild asparagus when I lived in Washington state. It was the best asparagus I have ever had!

I find the random advice that some centers give so comical. Mine said I could never, never, NEVER chew gum again. Like, if I swallowed it - even after I was fully healed - it would get stuck and have to be surgically removed.

I know what you mean. I even used to pull the strings off of the celery before I ate it, not anymore:-)
