Just talking, add insight if you want :)
I am going to see my dieticians all next week but just had some minor issues
I'll be a week post op on Tuesday. My pee isn't yellow, my poops are getting somewhat normal (sorry if this is tmi), but I know I'm not getting in much protein/nutrition. I tried premier protein for like 2 days, but realized the milk was making me gasy. I'm lactose intolerant. Tried yogurt, but same thing. I'm now drinking fair life milk and not only does it go down smooth, no painful gas. I take my vitamins religiously and try to get in 30 ounces of liquid. I don't want to like die, but food just isn't in the cards right now...idk I'll talk to my docs about it. I can probably play catch up during puree stage. Thanks you guys!
Get some protein powder to stir into your Fairlife; that will enable you to get in the protein you need. There are flavors out there, plus you can get unflavored (which I did) and just get bottled flavorings like banana, pineapple, vanilla, and get some cocoa to make all kinds of flavor combinations. If you get unflavored, you can also add it to broth to get your protein in.
But by all means, yes get your fluids in that is most important right now! Welcome to the Loser's Bench!
48 is minimum for me, 64 is the maximum. I was partially being sarcastic about the dying part :)
There is no maximum for hydration.. at least not within reason?

The human body needs around 40 ounces of liquid a day in order to not die - and that is way more important than food.

My first two weeks were liquids only. 48 ounces per day to be exact. At that stage I couldn't think about proteins or eating. The next two weeks were pureed food followed by two weeks of soft foods like scrambled eggs. At the six week mark I started vitamins. Doctor said don't worry about food the first two weeks, your body needs to heal and liquids only will not harm you.
Hello- I am going on 2 weeks post op and also have been having problems getting on my protein. Within the last couple of days I have added isopure- it has helped greatly as it has 40gms protein a bottle. I drink about 6 sips every 20 mins and by the end of the day it's gone. Like someone else suggested I added a protein powder daily also and that has helped me reach my daily protein goals the last few days- I even found a chicken soup based protein powder with 20gm protein a serving. I would like to have most of my protein come from meat/dairy based sources but, it just wasn't happening. I couldn't get enough in. Good luck!
