Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Sunday 12/31/17
Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018! We had a great time taking the kids to the hotel/waterpark. Now we're home and staying here since it's once again -25 degrees. Our plan for NYE includes a Home Alone marathon with popcorn and not staying up until midnight. Especially since Kid #1 is sick with a minor virus of some variety. I got new running shoes and I badly want to try them out, but the gym is closed until Tuesday.
QOTD: Did you make resolutions for 2017? If so, did you accomplish them? Can most of us even remember what they were? Probably something associated with our weight right? Personally, I have no idea. I probably didn't make any because I know most folks never make good on them!
11 months post-op/Maintenace/131.3lbs
M1: Coffee, PP, Miralax, HC
M2: Egg, Sausage, Salsa & Sour Cream (I think we're out of cheese, how did that happen?!)
M3: TBD, but maybe venison summer sausage w/ something
M4: Popcorn
M4: Yogurt w/ PB
E: Not today! Except I started a push up challenge, so I'll be doing as many push ups as I can today and also I bought a foam roller for my calves and found a hundred knots, so I guess I'll work on those.

Been a crazy couple of days. Will have the grandkids over tonight for NYE. Planning on games such as Headbands and Pictionary, This is a very different NYE than the previous few. Our usual for NYE has been very adult. I would make lobster and we would do shots till Midnight. By midnight, we were toasted. I may have a sip of wine cooler tomorrow with the NYD dinner, but, on second thought, I will probably pass.
QOTD: Last year, I made no resolutions.
M1: Coffee, Vanilla PP shake, miralax and sirloin
M2: Chicken curry
M3: Beef Ribs
M4: PP shake
M5: Shepherds pie with cauliflower and broccoli mashed fauxtatoes (Didn't make this again last night)
S: We'll see how the day goes
E: Nothing formal.
Water/Vits: Both have been horrible. Need to step it up today.

Today (and tomorrow) are movie days with Lance after being gone for a week. Today it's the local movies - Jumanji and Pitch Perfect 3.
QOTD: I set goals for myself each year and revisit them monthly. I try to stick to the SMART goal creation method so that my goals are actually focused and specific.
Here are my 2017 goals and the end of year update:
Plastics
- Reach plastics goal by June 5 - I reached it on July 4. About a month after my first surgery. So yay me! :)
- Call plastic surgeon in January to schedule first consult for March and then surgery, hopefully, in early June - Done and all surgeries finished as well!
- Figure out finances for plastics - Done and now completely paid for! Well, aside from paying off debt.
Fitness
- Log at least 15 minutes of exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY* - Nope! I haven't been able to exercise much at all since my first surgery and even before that I wasn't on track here.
- Achieve crow pose in yoga practice - No progress for obvious reasons :) Next year!
Running
- Survive half marathon in March - Done!!!!!!! I am amazing!!! I've signed up for this half again in March 2018, but I'm thinking I'll need to drop it to the 5k. But I'll do a half in the Fall.
College
- Pass all classes with minimum grade of B - Still going strong with As.
- Finish AA degree - Done!
- Begin BSes - Yup! I finished my 10th credit and now I'm done with courses for the year. I start up again on January 8th and I have paid for my four Spring 2018 classes (12 credits).
Self Care
- Continue monthly massages - Oh yes. Currently have them scheduled through March 2018.
- Do one fun thing at least half the days of the month just for me - I fell out of the habit of tracking and this needs to be a more specific goal.
- Participate in bereavement class at local hospice - Yup! Hoping to meet up with my classmates this week for lunch.
Cooking/Food
- Pick one physical cookbook when meal planning each week and choose at least one recipe from that book for the week's plan - Nope! I have been better than years past, but I haven't quite succeeded with once a week cookbook usage. I will definitely repeat this goal next year since it's a good one. I've just had too many things keep me from cooking this year.
- Blog all recipes from cookbooks - My blog is still AWOL, so nope!
- Blog all weekly meal plans - See above. Thankfully my blogmaster has been working hard to get my blog back up, so hopefully that'll happen soon!
Relationships
- See my mom once a month - 11 out of 12! I missed November due to surgery recovery.
- One fun thing a week with Art aside from watching TV - Not totally successful here, but better than in the past.
- One fun thing a week with Lance aside from watching TV - Ditto :P
- Friendships - I didn't really get to do anything with friends in December. Sigh. I've made this goal more specific for 2018.
Make a Change
- Complete training for Local Literacy Council and actively tutor - This is currently shelved due to lack of time.
- Stay involved with Planned Parenthood Generation Action (college club), go to meetings at least once a month - Done!
- Continue attending meetings locally, at least one a month - Nope. Totally derailed due to surgeries and recovering.
- Other concrete things TBD - Nothing in December, but have made this more concrete for 2018.
1: protein shake (yay for being back to eating normally!)
2: protein bar (well, not so normally because I'm out at movies during lunch)
3: spaghetti sauce or enchiladas or lunch meat (it's a leftover night)
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope!

Wow! You really accomplished a lot this year. Clearly setting goals works for you; it's an impressive list. All the best for 2018.
Thank you! Setting goals does work for me, as long as I do it right. Learning about the SMART method was awesome. :)
All the best to you as well!
