I used to not be into forums alot, but I am grateful for this one; truly I am. Thanks everyone who has taken the time to respond to my postings. This journey was a new adventure for my family and I and they are faithful to support me, motivate me, endure with me, and love me. Most things I do not know until I read within the forum or see a vlog. Like yesterday, with my hunger for the first time and my mood swings, I gained so much knowledge for you all. I am at Day 7 post-op and yes I now know this is more than acid or gas for me, I am having hunger moments and I believe it's okay, because I had not eaten in 6 days and I stick to my diet and I stop when I am full which is about 5 teaspoons of a liquid and 5 sips of a drink. I am still getting my water down better, but it is nasty to me, I will try some Crystal Light packets as I saw suggested by some. I love Popsicles and I find colder drinks now a comfort to me and ice. I take my vitamins twice a day and I have been feeling pretty good.

Colossians 3:14-17(NASB)

14 Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.15 Let the peace of CHRIST rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16ALet the WORD of CHRIST richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD JESUS , giving thanks through Him to GOD the FATHER.

I feel the same way about this site. I have a great support team with my medical center but I received information and support here that I would have never received otherwise.

Congratulations on making it to 7 days. 2018 will be a life-changing year for you!!

During surgery the nerves in your stomach were severed. You might believe this is "real" hunger, but nothing your stomach is telling you is reliable right now because it literally can not communicate with your brain.

At this point, hunger is likely acid, dehydration, or just your brain playing tricks on you.

You should take a PPI such as Prilosec or Nexium since your stomach is producing the amount of acid it needed for the size of your old stomach. You need to be getting at least 64 ounces of liquid and 60-80 grams of protein via protein shakes right now.

Due to calcium and iron recommendations for post-op, you should have a vitamin plan that involves taking vitamins 4 times a day, not just 2.
