? for the veteran VSGers and tummy tuck patients
I am currently 5.5 months out of VSG surgery. I went from 251 to 171 as of today. Size 22 to a 12/14. My goal was to get to 160#, size 10/12. I am loosing about 8-11# per month. When will it slow? I am sooooo looking forward to a tummy tuck but I do not want to do it too early. How long should I wait? I know I shouldn't do it now but is 1 year out too soon? I can deal with my boobs, arms aren't bad at all, but my stomach is just gross!.
Thanks!!!

Ideally you want to wait until you're ready to (and able to) maintain your weight with no more than a 10 pound variation in either direction. Many surgeons will want you to be stable for at least 3-6 months prior to reconstructive surgery.
But, ultimately, you're the boss of you. Just accept that if you do it sooner you might want to revise later.

My bariatric surgeon suggested not doing anything until I am 1.5 years from my surgery date. He said you'd be amazed how things move around even after you're at goal. And the plastic surgeon said he wanted me at a consistent weight for at least 3 months. Considering I have continued to drop after reaching my goal, that's harder than it sounds!
I was told to wait 6 months after hitting goal. Even once your weight levels out, it sort of redistributes for a while. My TT turned out amazing, so it is worth waiting to optimize the procedure! I have since had a regain of about 30 pounds from the tt surgery weight and subsequently lost it- I am not droopy, however, not as tight if that makes sense. There is a reason, in other words, why they want you to lose first and then TT.
