So today I'm one week post op and i have lost one pound one lol. I been strict on my post op diet trying very hard to get my protein and water in which I'll admit has been difficult..i know it is only the first week but i feel like i have stalled.anyone else have this problem in the beginning?

I am also one week out today. I was told in the hospital to do myself a favor and don't get on the scale until my two week checkup. Of course , I was curious and got on the scale and like you had lost only a pound. We are still really short time post op and recovering. Don't give that scale a second thought;I'm not going to!! We're following our plans and doing what we were told to do, so it will happen when it happens. Please keep us posted. How is your tummy feeling?

Sandy

Thank you.your right i think i need to stay away from scale. My stomach is feeling better just sore and having lots of gas.how are you feeling?

Still sore, especially the navel ! But not bad. I don't have to wear the binder anymore and all the incisions look great except the navel one. It is still bruised and ugly looking, lol! I wore jeans for the first time yesterday and that was just enough pressure to hold everything in place and felt pretty good. I still get fatigued really quickly, but fortunately am retired and can recover without worrying about getting back to work. My volunteer job at the animal rescue is being covered for me for as long as I need, so it's all good! Keep sipping and doing your protein. We can definitely do this!!

Sandy

Water retention and swelling make it impossible to get an accurate weight so soon after surgery. Try checking in again in a week.

You've probably lost more than a pound because you were pumped full with fluids during surgery and had to lose -that- weight before you could lose actual weight. Most of us come out from surgery weighing 5-10 pounds more than we did when we went in from surgery.

Stick to your plan. Hydration is your number one job right now.

Your body is adjusting to surgery, fluids, swelling, etc. Like Gwen mentioned, hydration is your number one job, walking as much as you can tolerate is your second(helps with gas). Hang in there, you will do great!

Everyone has swelling after surgery so it masks any weight loss. Give it time and just keep on keeping on. I actually gained even though I wasn't eating anything.

Hi. I'm 1 month post op. Give it a couple weeks...in the beginning your bloated & all the swelling. I've seen a week where i loss a good amount & the other I lost none. I felt the same way.

Don't worry. You will lose weight. They fill you with fluid at the hospital so you may actually see a gain. But its fluid. Just follow directions. And don't weigh daily. gl Diane S
