I've been given the go ahead since week 3, & really miss my seltzer & diet soda, but have been too nervous to try. Anyone ok with carbonation/no pain?

I haven't really tried anything carbonated since surgery. I would be careful, even if you were cleared for it, your stomach is still pretty new. I'm almost 11 months out and I still feel very strict restriction when I eat. I'm supposed to be eating 4oz at a time, but I can really only comfortably get 2oz. So, be very careful if you dare to try.

It was extremely uncomfortable for a good six months, and I'm sorry I even persisted to keep trying it, because my addiction to diet coke came back too.

I tried it for the first time about 2 years post-op and it was fine. I just drank slowly.

For me I had to have a swallow test done and the dr gave me some fizzy alka seltzer type thing to drink first, it made my stomach hurt so much that it gave me no desire to even think about going back to drinking carbonation. Also, with me I think even if it didn't bother me it would be too easy to go back to drinking tons of soda if I started. Several years ago that was a huge weakness for me. At one point I would drink around a two liter of either coke or mountain dew a day by myself.

After trying a sip, I don't like the way it feels, so I don't go there.

I tried it accidentally at 10 weeks out. I ordered a diet drink that I thought would be like lemonade but had some carbonation. It didn't hurt at all and I have no issues with it now.

I didn't drink anything with fizz until I was a year out. Now I drink a diet pepsi once in awhile. It does have a tendency to cause me more heartburn than when I don't drink it. I wouldn't do it so early out though.
