Energy/exhaustion

I am literally having to force myself to walk, and when I?m done I?m so tired. I have absolutely no energy!!! I?m getting 60 grams of protein and 64 oz fluid, I?m taking my vitamins and b-12 religiously, but I?m still exhausted. I hit my 3 week post op mark today. Anyone remember that pivotal moment when you felt normal again?

This is totally within the range of normal. Some people start feeling normal within days, others take months. Remember you had major surgery and go easy on yourself! It's okay if you take a nap :)

I'm glad this is at least normal. I'm a little bummed I'm not feeling better when I'm aiming to go back to work on Monday.

Hopefully your job is not super physically intensive! (I'm sending you a private message in a sec.)

I have not yet had my surgery but, I have asked this same question many times elsewhere. General consensus is at about 6 weeks. I will be watching for more replies though.

You are doing great! Hang in there.

It took me several weeks to start to feel more normal again. It is normal to feel tired while you continue to heal and your body adjusts to the extreme change to your diet. Just listen to your body and rest when needed.

Had VSG on 9/28/15

Lost 161 lbs since surgery, LOST 221 lbs overall so far!!

I definitely will. I think I'm going back to work Monday, so a little worried about that, but then again maybe that will be good for me. Thank you.

I didn't start feeling like I had any energy until I had been on soft foods (my surgeon skips puree) for about a week.

I would suggest trying to double your water, and up your protein to 80g+ if possible. You are likely getting only the bare minimum in and especially while healing, the body often needs more than the minimum. Also, more protein (assuming you don't have kidney problems) is better when you're trying to maintain muscle mass. I was told 80g was the minimum and to actually try for 100-120g while losing weight.
