okay, so I've scheduled an appointment with my dr to talk about wls. My coworker had her surgery approx 8 months ago. I told her about my appointment & she said be sure to not sound "mentally unstable or depressed" when talking to my dr. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

any advice for speaking with my dr? What should I /shouldn't I say?

She made me very nervous.

I don't understand why your coworker would say something like that. Don't be nervous, if wls is something you're serious about getting, just explain that to your doctor and be honest. Don't stress.

Just be honest. And make sure you have realistic expectations of what the surgery will and won't do for you.

You will be fine. Be genuine and honest about what you want and why. If you have been reading the forums you understand what the surgery will do for you and what you have to put into it to make it successful. If your doctor doesn't agree, find one who does.

Most programs include a psychiatric evaluation to ensure that you're mentally ready and capable to handle the post-op life. Some conditions, including binge eating disorder and uncontrolled depression, can prevent you from being approved.
