I?m having mine Monday too! I know what you mean. Will we be the ones who breeze through with minimal pain, or struggle with lots of pain? I hope all goes well for you!

My pain was minimal. If you have pain, hit your call button and ask for something to deal with it. You should not be in pain while in the hospital (or at home) as it impedes healing.

How does it impede healing?

Pain increases tension in your organs which prevents them from being able to heal. It causes tightness which just creates more pain and your body needs comfort to heal most effectively.

I had some pretty significant pain at my left largest incision site, but it was doable. Just make sure you let the nurses and surgeon know if you are in pain so they will send you home something that will cover it.

I was sleeved a month ago and for me there wasn't any pain. I was very sick for the first few days but no pain at all. Good luck and I'm sure you will do great

I was nervous too but it was actually quite tolerable. Pain meds helped. At its worst it was like a real bad stomach ache. The incision sites didn't bother me at all. As you have read though. Everyone is different in how they tolerate pain. I had a hernia fixed also and I could feel an immediate change when I bent down for the first time. Felt good. Best wishes on your up coming procedure.

I have an extremely low tolerance for pain (tmi - only had one kid) plus I don't do well with pain meds (they make me too wide awake and want to clean the house) . . . and getting the sleeve was easy peasy . . . .My doc even told me that the first week following surgery I'd probably hate her and wish I hadn't done it . . . and that it would pass. Never happened and it was one of the best decisions/choices I've my in my life.

I had so little pain that they had to beg me to take the morphine and other narcotics.
