VSG Post-op & Alcohol
A friend sent me the article linked below, which makes a lot of sense. RNY patients have the same issue, and this makes it really easy for us to develop transfer addictions when it comes to alcohol. For me, it was a good reminder to watch alcohol during the holidays when it's all over the dang place. I figured some of you might be interested to see more of the science behind it.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Interesting, definitely going to stay away from drinks for a long while. Luckily, I recently developed an adversion to it anyway.
Woops I didn't see the other post on the other forum... -_-
Sorry about that!

While I don't drink often, I do sometimes have a ****tail or two when out. I've found, post-VSG, that I feel the effects of alcohol much quicker than pre-op, but also sober up magnitudes of order faster than pre-op. As in, one drink will make me tipsy in 30 minutes; 30 minutes after that, I'm sober.
That, of course, is just my particular body's reaction. I just find it strange. And slightly convenient.
