Good Morning! I have to mention that today is World Diabetes Day! Here's to everyone that has walked that road with me over the years. I've been diabetic (MODY) for going on 22 years. Since I was 13 years old.

QOTD: Are you an always connected type of person, or do you leave your phone/computer alone and only check it during specific times of the day? Since I work in IT, I'm pretty much always 'on'.

9 months post op/Maintenance

THANK YOU ALL for the retirement congratulations! And I LOVED the house descriptions yesterday. I would be super happy in almost all of them!

QOTD: I was always connected partially because my role was also IT related, but I do love my technology "toys". I have an iPhone, iPad and MacBook so everything is connected (I had a second iphone for work but that is gone now of course). This morning it is odd to be having my second cup of coffee but not be on my work computer. Maybe I'll get less connected over time???

1 year, 8 months post-op (maintenance). RETIRED (last day posting this, but since it is my last day I left it)

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: ham and cheese

D: Leftover beef short rib

S: baked apple, nut thins/hummus

Enjoy your retirement! Time for some sleeping in days, pajamas only days, and working on all those hobbies you were too busy for before!

Enjoy your new life. I can imagine it will be quite an adjustment, but hopefully a fun adjustment!

If you get too bored, there is always volunteer work... lot's of good causes out there that could use help.

Good morning! Yesterday was ridiculously busy. I was up at 4:30 AM and didn't get home until after 10. I had a dinner meeting. I made sure to sit across from the guy who is a recovering alcoholic so I would be near someone else not drinking. I ate a little more from the antipasto tray than I should have, which meant that I could only eat a few pieces of grilled octopus from my entree. My bigger problem is that I came home and wanted to snack. I've found that I tend to do that when I'm really exhausted. I need to plan ahead for this when I have such long days.

QOTD - I'm pretty connected. I've actually been thinking that I might need to take a short break from my smartphone because I'm pretty addicted.

B - latte, cottage cheese

L - shrimp

S - protein shake

D - beef stew

E - try to get in a walk at some point

Water and vitamins on track

Lunch - Chicken with a about 2 tbl of stuffing

Dinner - Shrimpies!

QOTD: Always on pretty much. I'm on the computer all day with my phone sitting beside me.

I've decided to kick my food plan into high gear and quit flirting with these last 8 lbs.

B: coffee and yogurt

L: tuna salad with lettuce wraps

D: TBD - tuna, turkey, or salmon

S: cheese and jerky on hand, but am going to try to skip it.

Good morning all. Yesterday was a significantly better day than the day before. My mom's BFF sent me flowers! That was totally unexpected and lovely :) I also got the dinner set I've been coveting for years and I'm so freaking happy. I have this deep connection with Blue Willow China but it's has never been "me" to actually own. This stuff, however? This stuff is AMAZING and I'm thrilled. Since it's dishwasher and microwave safe, it'll be our every day china. My partners think I'm a little crazy and there might be some anesthesia/surgery brain factoring in to the decision to buy these things... but oh well. I'm really, really HAPPY.

Today is my first follow-up with my surgeon. In theory I'll get getting my drains out and get to swap from ACE wraps to compression gear. I can't wait!

QOTD: I'm pretty much always connected. I've got a smar****ch and email is set to download every minute. Although I only get push notifications for actual messages - FB messenger & SMSes/iMessages & Google Hangouts. I'm not always at a place where I can reply and, unfortunately, I tend to be the sort of person who either replies immediately or it takes 10 days and there's not much in between :P

1: protein shake
2: deli chicken
3: no idea, probably a shake or more chicken!

Liquids - Totally on track. I've been keeping super hydrated and my urine is pretty much clear as a result. I feel good about that!

Vitamins - I'm going to start taking these again today. Yay.

Exercise - Nothing formal, but getting to the doctor and back again will be challenging.

Gwen,

Love, love, love your sense of humor. I can imagine being a dinner guest and uncovering Mr. fly, Mr. Ant or Mr. Spider. Too lovely! My house is done it medieval style with swords, dragons and weapons galore and people always do a double take when they come into my living room. I temper it with ivy and glass and crystal so it is also pretty. I love being unique!

I am so glad you are feeling better. Hope everything goes well at the Dr. visit today.
