URSODIOL to prevent gallstones
Read the side effects, & terrified to takePeople talk about hair loss because of rapid weight loss, wondering if part of the hair loss is due to this medication. Have you taken this medication? Experienced any of the possible side effects?

Took it, had zero issues. Most medications have side effect lists longer than my arm. Talk to your surgeon if you're concerned.

Thanks for your response! It's not a choice per my surgeon, for years protocol was actually to remove gallbladder at time of gastric surgery, so obviously a pill for 6 months is a better option. Thankfully i don't take many meds, so never encountered daunting possible side effects. It is what it is, hopefully won't have any issues.

I took it post-op for 6 months with no side effects. I also did not lose hair. Almost any drug (prescription or over the counter) has a list of possible side-effects as long as one's arm.

Slightly off topic, but - I had my gall bladder removed when I had my WLS so I never took this medication. But, I had gallstones prior to surgery and I would rather lose all my hair that go through that again. Excruciating pain that can last for hours. I've had no issues since the surgery and don't miss my gall bladder a bit. Since we tend to eat much healthier, (low to no fried foods, etc) not having a gall bladder is much less of an issue.

Well I took that drug for 6 months as my surgeon required. Still have my GB and I am fine. That was nearly 8 years ago now. I was sure I had gallstones and tried to convince my surgeon to remove GB but a scan showed I had none. Now I am glad I still have that organ. I had minor hair loss after surgery but it came back easily. But I have always had thick hair.
Anyway, talk to your surgeon about side effects, I had none. GL Diane S

rapid weight loss does not cause hair loss
anesthesia causes hair loss as in telegenic effluvium. You can google that and get all the info you need.
