Whatcha Eating Today VSGers Saturday 11/11/17
Good Morning! Thank you to any Veteran's out there today. It's been a whirlwind in Chattanooga as far as food. I did two business trips and it was far easier than staying in a hotel with kids that need three square meals per day. We've been trying to grocery store one and use the hotel breakfast as another, so we only eat out once per day.
QOTD: What is your favorite grocery store? I got to go in a Wholefoods for the first time last night. Their prepared food section was fantastic. It was nice to get prepared proteins!
9 months post op/Maintenance
M1: Coffee w/ H&H and Miralax
M2: Salmon Pinwheels w/ Cream Cheese and Yogurt
M3-M4: TBD
M5: Yogurt, if I need the calories/carbs
E: We're going to GA to a trial today so I'll get plenty of walking. I might go run at the fitness center too.

Good morning! And happy true Veterans Day -- thank you to all veterans here as well as family and friends who served!
We are celebrating DH's 65th Birthday this weekend. Everyone in the local area is here. We are going to a nice restaurant tonight, then back to the house for presents and dessert. I got a super chocolate cake for DH which he will love, but I can skip because it is too much chocolate for me.
QOTD: We only have Shaw's and Stop and Shop nearby. Of the 2, I prefer Shaw's. In Florida, we go to Publix mostly
1 year, 8 months post-op (maintenance). RETIRED (officially Monday, but done working)!
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Ham and cheese
D: ? (going out)

Good morning! I'm helping a friend clean her new house today, and at some point I need to get out and deal with the leaves. The yard is covered and there's still so many on the trees. The same friend is coming over for dinner before my wife goes to help her pick out TVs.
QOTD - I love Whole Foods. My wallet does not. Besides our local grocery store and produce stand, we go to Trader Joe's semi-regularly. Pre-op I couldn't leave without a bag (or two) of chocolate toffee almonds. It was weird leaving without them the first time I went in after surgery. Even though there are two closer, we occasionally drive to the one in Princeton. It isn't as crowded and they sell alcohol. I don't like it personally (and won't be drinking any time soon) but people seem to love it when we have "two buck chuck" at parties.
B - latte, scrambled eggs and sausage
L - cottage cheese
S - protein shake
D - roast beef, asparagus
E - raking leaves
water and vitamins on track

Good morning everyone! Exciting day, getting a new washer and dryer (hooray, I like simple things). But after years of having a very old washer that shaked, rattled and rolled, I was happy to get a new set. None of that fancy touch screen nonsense, just a simple nice maytag set.
Qotd: I have never been to whole foods, primarily because of the price and I'm not super picky about where I buy my food. I like Hy-Vee, they have a great all natural health food market, and just the regular grocery story. Very big, open 24 hours.
Breakfast - Quaker Oats High Fiber maple & Brown sugar oatmeal. I really need more fiber in my diet since miralax every morning kills me. So, I adjusted where I let most of my carbs for the day go, and they go to breakfast to let some good tasty fiber in.
Lunch - Oven Roasted turkey breast slices ultra thin slices with a sharp cheddar cheese stick.
Dinner - I'm still on the fence about dinner. Maybe just some rotisserie chicken from costco, but I'm not in a big chicken mood, so we'll see.
Snacks - Vanilla premier protein spread throughout the day in oatmeal/coffee/then guzzling the last bit sometime before or after dinner
Cottage Cheese 1% milk fat
Danon L&F Greek
Water - Been doing good about upping all my water, I nearly doubled it from my poor excuse for water intake before
E - Running at the lake and body weight exercise at home. It's been hard to get to the gym so I've been doing a lot of my strength stuff at home, it's been kicking my butt!
I had the same dryer for 15 years. I just got a new one a few months back. It is crazy how much more efficient it is. My power bill went down almost $50/month! Yay for your new set!

Got up early to eat breakfast with my husband before he went to his shop. Bleh. I'm a night owl. After he left, I went back to bed and just now got up. Today is going to be a straighten or fix something up day. All I have to do is turn my head to see a multitude of options. LOL
QOTD: I'm a comparison shopper. I go to Walmart, Sav-A-Lot, Harvey's, Winn Dixie, Publix, Lucky's, Restaurant Depot, SamsClub, Aldi's, Whole Foods and anywhere else that I get a flyer for and can save some money. We buy most of our proteins from Restaurant Depot and most of my produce comes from Publix and/or Lucky's. The rest of the stuff comes from everywhere, but I only shop once or twice a month (besides restocking essentials like bread and milk). I have a huge freezer and a huge pantry so I stock up on stuff when it is on sale.
M1: Beefy mushroom, zoodles and a scoop of protein powder
M2: Jerky
M3: Triple Zero Oikos
M4: TBD and a scoop of protein powder
M5: Zoodles and pulled pork and ¼ of a low carb whole grain tortilla
S: Quest Protein chips and possibly some dried edamame and another piece of jerky
E: Not much today.
Water and vits on track.

I couldn't get around the taste of quest protein chips. It felt like I was eating cardboard with some cheese flavoring dusted on it!
If you didn't like Quest, then definitely do not try Protes. Protes ARE burnt cardboard with seasoning dusted on. The Quest chips are the best I've found so far in a high protein chip. They seem a little dry to me, but dip them in Walden Farms Bleu Cheese Dip or some FF sour cream and they are a WINNER.

Good morning,
Qotd I get a lot of my protein at sams club. For other things I compare prices between Aldi, meijer, Walmart and kens market ( they have good fresh vegetables, fruit and a meat counter).
B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese
L tuna, cottage cheese and honeycrisp apple
D chicken breast and some kind of vegetable
Have a good day
