TMI - bowel movements
Has anyone had changed or issues with their bowel movements since surgery? I know pain meds make you constipated but aside from that like hemrroids?
I don't think I have any hemmroids from what I can tell.. but I notice there is blood every time I wipe after #2... I am not constipated & not on pain meds. I had like a stomach cramp and loose stools and blood (sorry tmi)
I know this surgery does many things to our bodies and obviously diet changes, do have an effect on our bowel movements but before I get super concerned, I thought I'd ask if anyone here has delt with this too.

Blood in your stools needs to be brought to the attention of your surgeon as soon as possible.
Things did change for me, but it mostly was smaller and more dense. Drinking enough water seems to keep me from backing up.

Talk to your doc about that. Seeing blood there is not normal.
goggle hemorrhoids - they can be internal or external. The internal - you may not see - feel- but they still can bleed if irritated. or it may be just tissue irritations - abrasions due to runs. fresh - red blood indicate close to that end broken blood capillary - abrasions- irritation. You really don't want to end up with fissure (really really bad- painful condition).
call a doc - either PPC or gastro if you have one.

I already had hemorrhoids thanks to IBS-C. The constipation after surgery just made them worse. Once I consistently have the constipation under control (most days are OK now, but I still have episodes) I'm going to see a GI doc to have them ligated.

Dehydration also makes us severely constipated in addition to narcotics, and we drink a lot less.
I would absolutely call the doctor, since there is no way to know what it is without a face-to-face exam.
I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

bright red blood is usually caused by a hemorrhoid or anal fissure. Dark red is coming from further up the digestive tract and could potentially be more serious. I'd call your surgeon, as the others suggested - if nothing else, for peace of mind.
