Feel like I am failing

In 3 weeks I have only lost 6lbs!

I walk everyday for at least 30 minutes and just started going back to the gym last week.

I drink at least 50oz of water. (I know I need more I am working on it!)

I have a vitamin patch so that is taken care of.

I've also been very stressed out because my job is not going well and trying to find something new.

I eat 500-700 calories a day.

Food consists of eggs, turkey bacon, chicken, pork, steak, cottage cheese, protein bar, apples for a snack, deli ham or turkey, low fat cheese, mushrooms and cooked carrots.

Here is your problem, you are normal. It is completely normal to not lose 20 pounds in the first month. Everyone is different. Your body is healing. Search for "3 week stall".

It's normal to feel how you're feeling. Just keep in mind that you're only 7 weeks out from surgery. Your body has gone thru & is going thru a What the *** did you do to me moment, & you'll have plenty of other "moments" as you move along.

Be kind to yourself & stay the course. Your body will eventually get to accept that this is your new normal now.

I experienced pauses in my weight loss about every six weeks. If you know you're doing everything right, stay the course, and it will kick back into gear soon.

One thing that made me happy is that by about the third month, my stalls were triggers to try on new clothes, for I'd realize I'd dropped a size or three. From that point on, the stalls were celebrated.

I had a 9 day stall early on and I just kept telling myself that it's physically impossible to eat as little as I am and not lose weight. Your body will adjust! It's just confused right now after all it's been through and hanging on to the weight.

Maybe put the scale away for a little bit...

We get spoiled in the first few weeks post-op when we lose huge amounts of weight; that definitely doesn't last. After the first week, pretty much everyone slows down to 1 - 2 lb per week, slow and steady until you reach goal.

Your menu looks great, though I'd skip the apples and replace with more protein!

Keep at it. We didn't gain all of our weight in a day, and we won't lose it in a day either.

Look at people's month-by-month detail of WL in their signatures. Most of us had a huge loss the first month and then slowed considerably. Most people will see 8-12lbs of loss per month for a couple/few more months and then slow even further. On top of that, most of our losses will be stair-stepped. You will see no loss for a period of time and then a large loss. Repeat that cycle over & over.

Its very common to lose a big amount first month and then slow down. You are fine. Just make sure you opt for protein and veggies and watch the carbs. You will be fine. Diane S

You are supposed to lose more slowly after the first month. 3 pounds per week is just fine.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.
