I'm still psyched for surgery and what the future will bring and am very committed to my pre-op diet (the hardest prep ever btw)...but the doubt and fear is sneaking in...did you go through cold feet this close to your surgery?

VSG scheduled for 11/14

Thx - K6K

Absolutely. I was terrified, especially for the last few days! I wondered if I was making a huge mistake, if I should back out, if I was going to regret it.

I mentioned this to my doctor. He told me, "it's good that you're worried, that means you understand what a big deal this is, and you're prepared to take it seriously."

You can do this! I believe in you!

I had mine done on 9/29/17. I was fully committed as you are, but in the last few days, I waffled a bit internally. I got all my affairs in order (just in case). I pre-mourned the ability to binge and overeat. But the parent me talked to the child me and said, "Honey, you know this is for your own good. You are going to be ok. You can do this and think about all the wonderful things that are in store for you just down the road." The child me grudgingly agreed, but pouted all the way there. Now the child me is so excited because I will be able to hop on a plane soon, ride a horse, buy clothes from the regular store and out of catalogs that don't have an multiple X's in the size, I might be able to roller blade, ride a motorcycle and scuba dive. I could conceivably fit in the tiny cheapo cruise cabin bathrooms at some point and not feel like Godzilla if I step on somebodies toes.

Is it a serious surgery? You bet'cha. But, the end results are much better than continuing down the path that I was traveling. That path was going to end up in certain disability and death.

Cold feet are normal. My surgery was three weeks ago. It was easier than I expected and there was minimal pain. I'm feeling great and not too hungry. You will be so glad to be on the other side of surgery and start your new journey to better health! I'm down 15 pounds and looking forward to my new life. Let us know how you do! Good luck.

I was white knuckled when they were wheeling me out and didn't want to let go of the door jam. It was the best thing I ever did and so glad I went through it.

Good luck to you and we are for you all the way!
