How fast should I expect to loose after VSG?
How fast should I expect to loose after VSG?
it is week #3 post op, and I?m down 26 lbs.
is it OK to loose a pound a day?
i still get Hungry sometimes, but I am m still on that phase1 Protein shake & Puree diet.
I?m afraid of eating ?real food?, and then vomiting and having a leak, so I?m following the surgeons diet carefully.
But is a pound a day too much too fast? It seems crazy.
and I?m real careful with my vitamins too and exercising...
i imagine the the weight loss will slow and I?ll plateau....
isn't it all water weight in the beginning?
No, not too fast-- but know the pace won't last. Keep following the plan of your surgeon and progress to the next phase when scheduled. Don't fear food, but look at it in a new light.
Worrying about losing to fast is like worrying about getting rich to fast. There really is no down side to either.
No it's not all water weight.

As long as you are doing what you are supposed to to stay healthy- vitamins, fluids, protein.... then there is no downside to losing fast. It won't last at thstvpace, but enjoy it while it's happening.

You do not have 26 pounds of water weight :) Maybe the first 10.
Don't worry about losing weight too fast. Stick to your plan and you'll lose weight at the rate you're supposed to.

Most people lose a LOT of weight in the first few weeks, sometimes a pound a day, and then hit what's known as the dreaded "three week stall." (Search for it on the forums, you'll see TONS of posts about it!)
Once your body adjusts to things and you're back on more normal food, the weight loss definitely slows down. You'll probably slow to 1 -2 lb per week, which seems to be the norm for people on the forums, and then it's slow and steady all the way to goal.
