Beyond frustrated with protein drinks

I am so frustrated with trying to find a protein drink I can tolerate! I have tried premier protein, synthrax nectar and another one but I can't remember the name.

Pre op the PP tasted great and I was able to drink 2-3 a day no problem! Now after surgery it smells and tastes horrible and makes me gag so bad!

The nectar is awful! The whey in it makes me want to vomit!

I am seriously struggling so much. I know protein drinks aren't going to taste like a juice with a bunch of sugars or a milk shake but I need something that I can tolerate and drink.

PLEASE LIST YOUR PROTEIN DRINK!

Tastes vary a LOT, so what others like may not work well for you.

The only way I could get protein drinks down was by using a bottle with a lid and a straw. When I didn't have to smell them, it helped a bunch.

Well I still drink protein drinks but I'm trying to cut back on them. Mostly I've been a little bit lazy & pressed for time sometimes. However my go to protein drinks are the powders made by Quest. I like the chocolate one & the peanut butter one.

A runner up is the protein drink by powerbar, again I lean towards the chocolate one. I also like the Chike protein coffee one.

These drinks run towards the sweet side but it's not overwhelming sweet, at least not to me.

Do you still need the protein drinks to get to your protein goals? After awhile it won't be so hard to get it all in with regular protein from foods. You can also use unflavored protein powders if the taste bothers you too much.

I'm just extremely picky unfortunately and most powders are too thick or grainy for me ?

Try adding more liquid and/or using an immersion blender.

Have you tried just skim Fairlife milk? 13g of protein for 80 calories is decent.

Yes I tried it.

Made me nauseous.

I feel like I'm running out of options.

I'm to the point of breaking down in tears because this is getting ridiculous

Taste preferences come and go a lot in the beginning. The protein you hate now, you may love in six months.

I think it's worth trying to buy protein at GNC or vitamin shop, because they will allow you to return it after you've tried it if you don't like it. Just save your receipt and as long as it's within 30 days. They do also have some singleserving sizes of different types of proteins to try. Also Costco will always take returns.

I do like Syntrax, doesn't mean I like all of them. I do know that they sell like a sample set of a bunch of individual packets you can buy.

What saved me when I was in the if I have to drink another protein drink I'm going to vomit phase, was discovering coffee flavored protein. Most popular brands are Chike, Click or Fit Frappe.

I liked Premier Protein before surgery, but afterwards, it was far too sweet. I still drink it, but I mix it half and half with Fairlife milk and that makes it really very palatable for me.

I like Unjury, it was recommended by Dr. for high protein content. It's too sweet for me, so I do 1/2 scoop unflavored, 1/2 flavored in 1 cup skim milk, then pour on top of lots of ice. When in the mood for salty & hot I do the chicken soup flavor.
