Whatcha eating today VSGers? Saturday, 11/4/2017
I used to LOVE Piers Anthony. I found out, in his Bio, that he went to my high school and found his address and we corresponded for a few years. His sister was a librarian at my local public library :)
But now? I tried to read a book of his a few months ago and had to stop after 3 chapters or so. And I feel like I'd be too annoyed with the misogyny if I went back and read his older stuff now :/ Which sucks. Since I really did love his books when I was a kid!

Happy Saturday all! I'm heading to the movies today, a stop at the post office, walking the dog and maybe a workout video if I'm up to it.
QOTD: I read mostly for escape and entertainment with the occasional book club book or self-help book. If left to my own devices, I like funny books a la Janet Evanovich, well written historal romances like Lisa Kleypas, a good thriller like Dan Brown, or a classic like Jane Austen. My book club gets me to break out into heavier subjects and non-fiction. My therapist had me read several of Brene Brown's books on shame. Daring Greatly and The Gifts of Imperfection were terrific and resonated the most with me.
B - coffee and yogurt
L - grilled chicken
D - Low carb crustless taco pie
S - string cheese, protein pudding
I read Daring Greatly when my dad was in the hospital for his brain surgery - it was a really great book.

Morning all,
Cold and lots of snow here but at least it's stopped snowing for the time being. Great day to stay in. Still recovering from plastics and making slow but steady progress. Problem is my head is much more raring to go than my body is and I usually discover that after reaching/stretching/doing too much. Live and learn.
QOTD: "To Kill a Mockingbird" is one of my favorites and I've read it numerous times. Had to read it in high school and its the only one that grew on me even with having to read it. Other one: "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. Always get something new out of that one each time I read it.
B: HB egg, small can flavored tuna, coffee with FF creamer/sugar
S: homemade protein shake
L: leftover garden salad amped up with swiss cheese slices and turkey pepperoni & garlic balsamic vinaigrette
S: last bit of fresh pineapple and greek vanilla yogurt, perhaps more coffee or herbal tea
D: Not sure yet. Maybe more salad with cheese and HB egg, or, some kind of hot soup (brrr, I'm so cold)
E: nothing yet, only 2 weeks post op
water: lots of water and herbal tea so I'll hit my 64+oz
Vitamins: yes
Have a great day everyone!
Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
The Alchemist is on my infinite "to read" list. Some day I will get to it.
I know what you mean about it being a rare book that you love even after you've been "forced" to read it. I love when it happens.

QOTD: Wow lots of books, nothing I can think of specifically for health or weight loss.
B: Debs Coffee (Navarre, FL) Spinach Mushroom omelet with cheese and bacon
S: Chocolate Peanut butter with a little extra sugar free chocolate syrup (had an overwhelming sweet craving)
L: Left over steak from last night
S: Nuts
D: Not sure yet, something yummy, may have to test out my new spiralizer
S: ??
W: On track
E: 5.25 mile walk run this morning after coffee
A book doesn't have to be about health or weight loss to have had an impact on your life, right?

Good morning and happy Saturday! It finally stopped snowing last night about 7pm. It actually looks beautiful right now and that's when I don't mind it.
I bet that does feel good to have school work done for awhile Gwen! It will be a blessing to not have to think about it during your recovery from PS. Our community college offers a lot non-traditional classes from serious subjects to swing dance. This spring I am taking a course on chickens, how to care for them and build a chicken coop:-)
QOTD-I am thankful for The Artist's Way by Julie Cameron. Cecily mentioned Brene Brown, I do like her a lot as well. Carolyn Myss is another author I find helpful. You've got me curious about the book you mentioned Gwen, I might check that one out.
B-Greek yogurt w/chia, flax and pumpkins seeds
L-scrambled eggs with jack cheese
S-Chai tea w/cream
D-It's our annual volunteer fire hall fund raiser tonight, turkey will all the fixings!!!
E-Hike at State Park with my dog
Have a safe and peaceful Saturday everyone!
Overdid it on some sugar free chocolate chips last night...maltitol is not my friend today! lol Lesson learned.
Two weeks until my hysterectomy and I have so much to do to prepare for my return home. I feel a little overwhelmed but I know I'll get it done. I want to make my first couple of weeks post-surgery as easy as possible since I live alone. Bathroom is upstairs with the bedroom, so putting a mini-fridge/freezer and microwave in the bedroom and stocking it up so I don't have to worry about the stairs for a while. My sister, nephew, and besties will be around if I need something, so that will be great. Otherwise going to create my own little world upstairs lol.
QOTD: Like Cecily, I read for pure pleasure and entertainment, but I never read "self-help" or "inspirational" types of books, I'm purely a fiction gal. However, I have run across two books in my lifetime of reading that had obvious messages that resonated to me: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, and it's message of a better world and a better life that is out there if you look for it; and The Stand by Stephen King, and it's battle between good and evil.
B: Dannon L&F 80 vanilla w/sunflower butter and Fiber One, coffee w/H&H and xylitol
L: Leftover Keto Chili Dog Pot Pie Casserole
D: Not sure, something light though that casserole is filling and I got up late today
Water and vites on track
I love The Stand. Have you read The Fireman by his son, Joe Hill?
