Whatcha eating today VSGers? Saturday, 11/4/2017
Woo! I'll get us started today. I used to do this all the time :)
I'm officially finished all of my school work and the term doesn't end until tomorrow at midnight. It's a great feeling. Today my only planned tasks are getting dinner in the slow cooker, skyping with my mom, and watching Thor! And, of course, all the surgery prep that needs to happen. I think I migh****ch Train to Busan.
QOTD: On the trend of thankfulness - what is a book that you're thankful for? A book that has made an impact on your life. Tell us about it! (I need to consider my answer, so I'll edit in a few with the book I pick.) Added: This is a hard choice to make because a lot of books have had a great impact on me. I think I'll go with Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain for this one, since it's been on my mind the last few days. I read this in 2012 and, having always considered myself an introvert, a lot of it resonated with me. Then I talked to a few people who have been in my life forever about reading the book and my thoughts and their responses were basically all, "LOL? You? An introvert?!" It made me spend a lot of time thinking about where I was on the introversion/extroversion scale. Ultimately I came across the word "ambivert" and that feels like the best fit for me. At least for now.
1: protein shake
2: protein shake (prepping for surgery)

Good morning! I have to say that I don't miss schoolwork. I went to school at night for 8 years while working full-time. Though my life is slower now I do worry a bit about being bored in retirement...
QOTD: I have read SO many books, but most were fiction. Maybe Trinity by Leon Uris, because we named DS after the main character Conor since he was such a strong person.
1 year, 7 months post-op (maintenance). 5 work days to retirement (11/13) - 2 short days, 3 long ones and one dinner.
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese
D: leftovers - chili or 1/2 cheeseburger with veggies or tuna sashimi with veggies
S: Yogurt

You can always go back to college in retirement! A lot of community colleges offer super discounted rates to "seniors." (For example, my CC only charges course fees, not tuition.) Even just taking one course at a time could be enjoyable :)
It's awesome that you named your child after a book character. And I totally feel that fiction can have an impact on a person's life. I experienced that with The Terror by Dan Simmons. I'd somehow gotten out of the habit of reading and it was a book that pulled me back in. I'm very thankful to it for that!

Today I'm going to finish my resume (I swear I am!) It's not that it's difficult, I do resumes all the time for other people, but working on mine makes me soooo angry. We are going to work through it today though. Oh. And the dog needs a bath. Stinky puppy!
QOTD: I've read so many good books, it's hard to pick one. The one that touched me the most? Johnathon Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. Short, but extremely powerful. It resonated with me and I've read it probably 100 times. His other books are good too.
M1: Egg over easy
M2: Korean Beef
M3: General Tso Chicken
M4: Beefy mushroom soup w/ a scoop of unflavored protein powder
M5: Stuffed Eggplant with Sausage
S: ½ Chobani Yogurt Drink
E: Going to walk down my front walkway to the sidewalk (and maybe further) with the walker.
Vites and water: Water still a struggle, but I'm making the mins each day. Vits on track, but can't wait till I run out of the chewables.

Good luck with the resume! I know what you mean - doing things for other people is totally different than doing them for yourself. I helped my BFF clean out her daughter's apartment and it was much more enjoyable than cleaning my own home :P

Good morning! We got a really late start today. I fell asleep shortly after 9 last night, got up a couple of times with Teddy, and didn't get up for real until almost 9 am. I feel like I could sleep more. My grandmother called it hibernating, and it usually happens once or twice a month. Unfortunately my cycle isn't regular so I can't predict it.
QOTD - I read a lot before Teddy was born, and I still manage to read a lot during the summer. It's hard during the school year. The book I'm most thankful for is The Secret Garden. I read it in fourth grade, and it started a lifelong interest in plants and gardens. For a number of years, I reread it every spring. I haven't done that in a while. I should start doing it again.
B - latte and cottage cheese
L - mushroom frittata
S - protein shake
D - ribs
E - yardwork
water and vitamins on track (I usually have a hard time on the weekend, but I'm committed to doing it well this weekend)

I used to do this with Watership Down - I'd read it every year. Then it got replaced with The Stand. But now it's been ages since I've read either!

Watership Down and The Stand!! - Two of my most favorite fiction pieces and books I've read over and over. Add MidWorld and anything by Piers Anthony and you have my 'favorite shelf' in my bookcase covered. And of course, I just placed both on my nightstand... LOL
