Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Wednesday 11/1/17
Happy November, VSGers! I made it to Philly and today is the first day of the conference. I have no idea what they are offering for lunch, so that will be fun to navigate. I feel like this is my first time being thrown out into the 'real world' to make good choices. I don't even have a fridge in my room for the essentials. I'm without my Premier Protein and my yogurt.
QOTD: Since it's November, let's start to focus on things we're thankful for at least a few times a week. We'll start with the obvious one. What makes you thankful for your surgery? In my case, I'm thankful that I can move and food no longer controls my every decision and desire. I'm traveling with my boss and he's MO. He has mentioned food so many times. Even sending us an email before we left with a list of places he thought we should try. I remember it being so exciting to be in a place with all the new food to try. I hadn't even considered food beyond "what do I do without my staple proteins?"
9 months post-op/Maintenance/No idea, no scale!
M1: Coffee w/ Miralax and Half & Half
M2: Egg patty w/ 2 TBSP cheese & a 50-calorie Dannon L&F
M3-M5: TBD, I have a couple of protein bars and some Nush cakes. I will eat one probably. There is also a small local grocery next door to the hotel that I might check out this morning.
E: Maybe a run on the treadmill if I can get away from my co-workers long enough!

Good morning! Erin - I'm glad you're safely in Philly. If the little grocery store doesn't pan out, search for a Wawa. They're everywhere (both places we've lived in the Philly tri-state region had Wawas less than a half mile from our house). They have yogurt, pepperoni and cheese cups, cheese sticks, etc.
NSV - I'm wearing a sweater today that I wore for our engagement photos in 2014. I had to wear a garment underneath to smooth things out back then, but I don't have to now!
QOTD - I didn't even realize it until I had a wellness visit with my new PCP last week, but my back pain is gone. I still have pain in my hips (from moving more, and in different ways), but that's not nearly as limiting as the lower back. I can't wait to see what else improves!
B - latte, cottage cheese
L - broiled ham and cheese roll-ups
S - protein shake
D - chili chicken burgers from Trader Joe's
E - I'm starting a new program of body weight and kettle bell workouts that has arm days, leg days, etc. Today is an arm day.
Water and vitamins on track

I love me some Wawa! But, we're staying in the city center - literally looking at the back of the convention center from our hotel. I did see a 7-eleven somewhere on our Uber ride in, it's back a block I think. I've had luck there too!
I don't have a fridge in my hotel room so I can't really do much that will need to keep. It's amazing how much requires refrigeration post-op.

Oooh go to the Reading Terminal Market and check out: http://www.readingterminalmarket.org/merchants/53-riehls-del i-and-cheese-shop
I love that area and have stayed in that hotel. Yes the market is across the street and not sure what days it's open. I hope you can do good and Frankenstein the food to work. My hubs has traveled quite a bit since his sleeve and it's definitely a challenge at times. Last time he went to a conference it was the wine. He ended up having just one glass the entire week. Good luck and keep us posted.

I just started indulging in wine again (and by that I mean I've had it twice). My plan says no alcohol until goal. I hit goal in July but had my first drink maybe 2-3 weeks ago now. I drink about 1-2oz and that's about it. I've never been a big drinker though. In the case of free drinks here I've been accepting them at the social function and then just putting them undrunk on a table when I leave. If I'm going to drink I'd like to choose a good drink.

My husband started having wine occasionally at the 4 month mark. Then it began on the weekends. Then he did an experiment and didn't drink one weekend and lost 3.3lbs the next week. So, now he's not drinking. We just decided when we get to goal we will pick one night a month and open a very nice bottle of wine. I'm sure ther may be other occasions here and there, but we are not going to fall into that old habit. Our family drinks a lot socially so it's always around. Obviously I cannot drink at all this year over the holidays.

Good morning! It is calming down around Massachusetts after a lot of wind the last couple of days. But it is 36 degrees out. My heat is on by necessity!
QOTD: I'm thankful for controlled BP, no more fear of a heart attack coming any moment, feet and knees that don't ache, the ability to sleep on my back again and of course Clothes!
1 year, 7 months post-op (maintenance). 8 work days to retirement (11/13).
This was yesterday's plan because dinner and snacks were completely different (though I only ate 1 snack size piece of candy before it was all gone):
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese
D: Shrimp
S: yogurt, baked apple

Good morning..still on the 2 oz of blended..
Meal 1 Greek 100 Apple pie yogurt
Meal 2 protein drink
Meal 3 peanut butter
Meal 4 ginger carrot soup
Meal 5 SF jello
Meal 6 mashed potato
32 oz of clear broth and 32 oz of water and maybe a sugar-free popsicle here or there.
I am still home from work. Enjoying the time off. I think today I might do some organizing around the house.
I am thankful that since I left the hospital I have not had to take my diabetes medication injections.
That sucks about no fridge. Maybe the hotel as a cooler you can use? Also the premier doesn't need to be refrigerated, maybe you can drink it over ice? Also another neat tip you had in your post, I never thought of putting the Miralax in my coffee, that's brilliant.
QOTD: I am thankful that after 5 years I do not think my stomach has stretched very much and even if I get a wild hair my sleeve straightens me right out. So my advise to everyone is never get back into the habit of over eating as it will serve you well for a long time.
B: Bulletproof Coffee and Hard Salami (had a small crisis so I didn't get my ham and eggs I was planning on.
S: Guacamole
L: Ham and Eggs with Butter
S: Almonds or Pistachios
D: Lil' Smokies with Sugar Free BBQ Sauce and Cheesy Cauliflower Rice
S: Greek Yogurt
W: Haven't started today but I will get my 8 cups in
E: Didn't run yesterday but I did get a small bike ride in and I moved a lot setting up for Halloween so I definitely need to run today 3.5 miles.
One thing I have gotten bad about this week is logging my food, I need to be better about it today.
