How long from the time you called to the day you had surgery did it take?

I attended my surgeon's informational seminar in the first week of September, and had surgery on December 10. My insurance company required a 3-month supervised diet, which took up the bulk of the wait time.

I had my first appointment on 2/9/2016 (a few days after I called) and my surgery on 3/21/2016. So it took almost 6 weeks total.
Given my BMI was over 50, all supervises diets were waived by my insurance. Just had to get an endoscopy, psych evaluation, and clearance from my PCP, then schedule surgery.
I started in February 2017 and I'm finally having my surgery November 2 2017. It took a total of 8 months. I'm doing great on my two week preop liquid diet I've lost 15 pounds. I've choose to do this surgery for me to better my health I've always had a weight problem since I was little. After my surgery I will post how I did.

I am in Canada and I started in Janurary 2016. I am rolling up on 2 years in a few months. I am currently waiting on a surgery date.
But I have seen some people fly through at 6 months.
It depends on the tests they want you to have and long it takes to get all of those completed. Then the appointments with the groups and Drs.
I hope yours moves quickly for you.

I started my journey ironically Thanksgiving of last year which is when I decided that I wanted to look into bariatric surgery. I wasn't able to see the surgeon for a consult until February which then he ordered a sleep study, psych consult, and an endoscopy. It took me a few months to actually see those Specialists because I live in a small town. I ended up testing positive for h pylori so I had to be on antibiotics and follow up 6 weeks later and I also tested positive for sleep apnea so they needed me to be on the CPAP machine for at least 30 days. It definitely was a waiting game but the insurance finally approved it and I am now scheduled for surgery November 15. You just have to be patient I did not have to do the 6 month supervised diet so definitely look into what your insurance requirements are because they may differ from the surgeon. Keep us posted!

7 months. My first appointment was scheduled in May, about 2 weeks after I called. I had a 6 month program due to insurance and I told my doctor I needed to get the surgery in December before my new deductible started again. I had surgery 12/28. It worked out perfectly for me. Good luck to you.
About 1 year. Took me awhile to meet the weight goal, then I wasn't mentally ready for it. Then I changed insurance and had to do dietary phone coaching. Finally I had to agree to continue counseling. I have depression. So yes, about a year.
