The doc said it was fine. He also told me no protein this week and to only do 48 ounces.

Well, those rules could definitely be a contributing factor to your hunger. Your body needs protein to heal, and liquid to live, so it's strange that your rules want neither.

No protein!! I'm surprised. I'm doing protein shakes 3x a day for almost 80 grams a day. I'd ask doctor why no protein. It would help healing and hunger.

Yea no protein for the first week. Just liquids. On week 2 I can start the protein. I honestly can't wait because I'm starving! I know at a certain point, it's in your head but this definitely is NOT in my head! Lol

Acid can mimic hunger, so maybe consider taking the PPI. I also never heard of no protein the first week.

your surgeon may be a great cutter but his post op program sucks.

If I were on your shoes, I would drop every thing he told me and do what the successful ppl on this site have done.

Dribk all the sf liquid I could hold.

Add protein shakes

drop the watermelon and an fruit. It is pure sugar and can stop your weight loss.

not saying you should disregard your doctors prdets. I personally would disregard these orders if I was in your shoes.

Hmmmm. I'm not a doctor and I certainly don't expect you to listen to a stranger on the internet BUT if you take a poll, I think you may find that 99% of us had protein shakes on our post-op diet! I think it's frankly crazy that your doctor wouldn't advocate shakes! You need liquids to stay hydrated and protein to heal so it's a win/win. How many days until you can progress to your next stage? Again, I'm not saying "ignore his plan" but you may personally decide to introduce protein shakes since they will provide nourishment! Good luck! It really does get so much better. Soon, this immediately post-op time will be a distant memory!

Liquid phase is tough, but you really need to try protein. Your surgeon seems a bit off the wall. For liquids; SF popsicles, SF jello, powerade zero's, and broth. The protein will fill you up, and you won't get that hungry feeling. I also was able to have oikios yogurt and SF pudding when I was done with the "clear" liquid phase and on liquid phase. You should find a Nutritionist to talk to. I've never heard of anyone saying they couldn't do liquid protein post op...

It's just the first week no protein. The papers the hospital and nutritionist gave me said the same thing.
