"Hunger pains"

I am 4 weeks post op and throughout the day I get the feeling I'm "hungry" between meals. I sip on water or coffee throughout the day. I follow the 30/30 rule and I still have it.

For breakfast this morning I had 1 egg and that was it. (I forgot to grab my banana and didn't have time to stop before work this morning)

Is it still stomach acid? I had the "hunger pains" like a week after surgery and they said it was stomach acid

Yesterday I had oatmeal and a bite of banana. Got the "hunger feeling" within 3 hours.

How much liquid are you getting into your body each day?

This could be acid, yes.

Also, ditch the banana and oatmeal. Carbs won't fill you up the way protein will. At this point, your body needs protein to heal and protein has the aded bonus of filling you up and keeping you sated for longer. Bananas and oatmeal are useless for weight loss right now.

yes, it could be acid and it might not go away.

Bananas and oatmeal are pretty much carbs and actually pretty useless for weight loss.

It's possible the high carb content in the oatmeal and bite of banana are making you hungry within 3 hours. If I have scrambled eggs w/cheese, protein shake or Greek yogurt for breakfast I usually don't feel hungry for about 5-6 hours. Depending on what phase you are in your diet, adding more protein to your one egg will help a lot.

I tired scrambled egg with a little milk and a pinch of shredded cheese and it made my stomach upset so I tried just an egg this morning and I didn't have the pain. So maybe I can't handle milk or cheese right now. I haven't tried yogurt yet, and my protein shake makes me sick to my stomach too.

That does make it tough, I'm sorry you are having trouble with dairy. If you haven't already, maybe try protein shakes without dairy, beans, moistened meats like tuna, canned chicken and stick with the plain eggs.

You and others have mentioned acid, that definitely could be it as well.

It just sucks having so many issues now with foods after surgery. I know its temporary but before the surgery I could drink my premier proteins easy peasy and now they make me sick.

I love milk and cheese too!

Next week I start regular diet so for breakfast could I have an egg and a slice of turkey bacon?

I've been craving turkey bacon with my egg but not sure if it's "healthy" enough.

Hang in there, it does get better. Stay hydrated and get your protein in the best that you can. It will get easier, especially when you have more options to choose from on the regular diet. It really helps to check out the VSG menu forum to see what others eat. It's great support and a lot of good recipe and food ideas. I try to read and post on it daily.

A lot of people do use bacon, including myself. I haven't used turkey bacon, so hopefully someone else will be able to give their opinion on it.

Your doing great, your listening to your body and that's so important!

I refuse to acknowledge turkey bacon as real food ;) I've been eating regular bacon since I could do solid foods and it's never been an issue.
