Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Tuesday 10/17/17
It's Tuesday. Monday always seems to go by too quickly for me and leaves me wishing I'd been able to get more stuff done. Today I'm going to work more on reading for my HMGT class. I thought I'd be able to get it all done yesterday, but I hadn't realized that it includes a 109 page PDF in the mix. It's actually super fascinating, though - I'm reading about Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and it's completely ****** up. No standards upon initial implementation means that systems fail at communication now. Oops. (And I'm having to fight the compulsion of, "oh, this would be really interesting work!")
QOTD: I think I flew first when I was 6 or 7. I've done a lot of travel since then - a good mix of driving and flying. I like flying because it gets me where I need to go. I like it better now that I'm smaller. I'm not a fan of travel in general because I did entirely too much of it between 2002 and 2014. I greatly prefer not traveling.
1: protein shake
2: sous vide egg bite test #1! I'm excited about this - I want to make them for dinner on Wednesday, so I figure I should test out the method for lunch today. Recipes say temp between 167-172 and times from 35-60 minutes. The one I'm trying today is 167 for 35 minutes. I'll be using ricotta for the dairy component, because that's what I have.
3: previously smoked beef brisket warmed up in the sous vide, sautéed veggies
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope

Good morning, All!
Yesterday I logged everything I ate. I ate good food. I worked out at the gym. It felt like a good accomplishment.
QOTD: I first flew at 14 in a lightning storm. I have no probs with it. When I used to drink, the flights would go very fast! My most difficult flights were across the water. As long as there is land under me, I'm totally comfortable. And as long as my service dog is with me, I feel absolutely calm. My old gal went to Italy with me twice, and anywhere I went stateside from 2006 until she passed in 2015. I do love to fly.
AM: SF Peppermint White Mocha with Van PP
B: Yogurt
L: Chicken with cottage cheese and hummus (it's nice to be having this again, versus coconut chocolate chip cookies...)
S: Yogurt
D: Chicken with Cottage Cheese and hummus
S: Red Grapefruit in water
Water & Vites
You go girl! Sorry about losing your puppy. I lost one not long ago that had been with me for 15 years. It's tough.
Glad you are logging. I know it keeps me honest. Even when I have that single Cheez-It. I log it. Then I can look back and go ye*****pe and know what to change if the scale stops moving or starts going in the wrong direction.
Have a great day!
Diane

Hi Gang! I've missed you all and your wonderful posts. Sorry for the absence. I've got nobody to blame, but myself. I seem to sometimes forget that I need to make me and my recovery to health a priority and that includes checking in on here on a much more regular schedule. The good news is that my latest litter of foster puppies will be in their permanent homes by Wednesday evening, so maybe some free time for me is in the cards! I've also got 2 weeks of vacation coming up October 23rd through November 7th and I am living for that!
QOTD: I love flying, and so much more since I've lost weight. It's so much more comfy in the air, on rollercoasters, at stadiums, concerts, etc. Yay!
B: Chocolate premier in Cliff's too strong coffee at work! :)
S: swiss and rye cheese stick (Osceola Cheese Store is the bomb for wonderful combos like this)
L: Bold Oscar Meyer mesquite deli chicken, belfonte banana cream yogurt
D: eating out at the Drunken worm...thinking shrimp fajitas without the tortillas might be pretty tasty.
Water, vites, walking all a work in progress. Need to focus more on walking than reading this great new James Patterson book, " The Black Book". :)

Good morning all! The hike yesterday in the heat was hot. Go figure. I've had a headache since. Grr. I forgot I get headaches exercising in the heat. Live. Learn. Forget. Suffer. Remember.
QOTD: I have a lot of anxiety about flying mostly related to my weight, so my trip to NY coming up should be interesting as I'll fit this time! I guess I view flying as a means to an end. I used to be more fearful until I had to fly constantly for work. That worked the fear out of me.
B - eggs and bacon, coffee
L - steak kabob
D - steak kabob
S - string cheese
Today is more paperwork (resume and unemployment stuff) and following up on our insurance claim from Hurricane Irma. We have two indoor waterfalls: one in the bedroom and one in the livingroom. (In other words, I need a new roof!)
QOTD: I have only flown once in about 10 years. I'm much too large to fit in a single seat so I have to buy two seats. That gets expensive. I used to love to fly from up north down to Florida with my grandparents, but flying is not the same as it used to be. I prefer to drive. I love driving at night (I used to be an over the road truck driver when I was married to my first husband).
18 days post-op
M1: 98% FF Broccoli Cheddar soup and 1 scoop protein powder
M2: snow crab salad with avocado
M3: Modified Shelley's Ricotta Bake
M4: Leftover baked cod and avocado
M5: Scoop of unflavored isopure and vegetable broth.
S: Scoop of unflavored isopure and vegetable broth (trying to really up my protein)
E: Walking more in the house out of the wheelchair
Vites and water: Got in all my water yesterday - going to try to do the same today. Vites on track.
