4.5 Years Post-Op... Are you??
Hi! I was also sleeved about 4.5 years ago, so I thought I'd say hello. I haven't posted in years, but I stopped by today to search for info on gallbladder issues.
My lowest weight was about 140. I've been around 175 for awhile now, so I guess that's 35 lbs gained for me. I was a gym rat for about a year, but I ran into some health problems and eventually learned I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Now I can't tolerate much physical activity, and the exercise I do is simple physical therapy stuff. So this all didn't turn out how I thought it would at all.
But I remain so thankful for my sleeve. I still have great restriction. And I'm kind of okay with my weight. My skin hung off of me at 140 very badly, and plastics aren't likely from a financial or health standpoint. I don't focus on my weight much these days because unfortunately my focus has become pain management and learning to be functional with a chronic illness.
So, that's where I'm at! Hang in there, take care of yourself, and cherish your health!
Same here. I'll be 6 yrs out in March 2018 and have gained about 45 lbs back. I feel the same as you in that I know what to do but just don't. I still exercise but basically just walking because I feel every single extra pound. I have aches and pains like someone much older.
My main issue is that the thought of proteins make me gag. I have no desire to eat chicken or beef or whatever. I make it anyway and try to force myself but wind up only eating a few bites. So of course, I end up eating things I shouldn't. I still use the excuse that the junk is for the kids and I don't want to deprive them because of my food issues. I know it's time to clean house but just can't seem to find the motivation.
The struggle is very real indeed! I hope we can both get our heads back on straight and do this again!!
