Body temp extremes 1st week postop

Calling Dr. tomorrow morning. BP & glucose normal, but experiencing sweating, then freezing cold for hours. Anyone else experience these body temp extremes?

Have you taken your temperature? If you have a fever over 101, you shouldn't wait until tomorrow...you should contact whomever is on call for your surgeon. If you're simply feeling hot then cold without a fever or with a low grade fever, I would suggest trying to get up and move more if you're not already doing that. There is a strange phenomenon after abdominal surgery...if you're not up and moving and breathing deeply, you're not keeping your lungs clear of secretions and your alveoli in your lungs may not be fully open and this can cause your temperature may rise.

Thanks so much for responding myhomezoo! No fever, moving around... I know ppl have cold syndrome, but the sweating is really annoying.

I am normally cold natured. (I wear a sweater in air conditioning even when I was over 500 pounds). But, after surgery, I for almost a week would break into a sweat (no fever). By week two it was easying off and I was back to feeling cold again. I would suggest talking to your surgeon regardless, but definitely watch for fever and signs of infection.
