Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Wednesday 10/11/17
on 10/11/17 6:20 am
Up early today. I talked with my surgeon last night and he does want to repair my hiatal hernia again. It's being submitted to insurance and it looks like it'll be scheduled in late November/early December to take advantage of my deductible and copay maximums being met for 2017. It sounds like surgery takes a few hours because there's scar tissue from the VSG, one night in the hospital, and the recovery is very similar to the VSG. Hopefully it means no more PPIs...
QOTD: I wanted to be a landscape architect and used to pour over plant books memorizing plant names. Now I just garden!
B - coffee and yogurt
L - leftover chicken
D - beef kabob
S - protein pudding
I tend to get eggs at diners - which I dislike doing because I prefer to get food that I don't/can't cook myself when I eat out! Sometimes diners have gyros though. Yum. Gyro meat + tzatziki.
Yesterday I dealt with my super annoying PCP and made the decision that I'm going to fire her and find a new one for 2018. I hate finding new medical providers but it must be done. Today I'll keep plugging away at school since I have NO errands to run! Woo! My primary goals are to get my discussion up for HMGT and then do all the week's reading for GERO.
QOTD: Once I outgrew the "I want to be a horse" phase... I always figured I'd be a codebreaker for the government. This did not come to pass. I'm sure I would have been happy if it had, but I'd also be a completely different person than I am today.
1: protein shake
2: broccoli cheddar soup w/ chicken added
3: grilled skirt steak, chimichurri, brazilian cheese bread things for the guys
4: yogurt if I remember - yay antibiotics
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope

None of our diners here serve breakfast all day. Heck, most of them are only open until 2pm. We have weird diner etiquette. This place literally had one grilled chicken sandwich (sounded boring) and a turkey club. Everything else was friend/battered. I should have just gotten the turkey club and eaten the inside.

Whaaaaa? I thought breakfast all day was the only reason for diners to exist.

You would think so, but no that's not a thing here! I can think of a couple that do breakfast all day on Sunday only. And yeah, most of them do breakfast 'all day' but close at 2pm. This makes me so mad because I don't like eggs for breakfast, I like them for dinner!

Good afternoon,
I slept in this morning. It's freezing today in Michigan.
Qotd I always wanted to be a nurse. The closest thing I got was a medical assistant.
B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese
L tuna, cottage cheese and honeycrisp apple
D rotisserie chicken and coleslaw
Have a good day
When I was a child I was convinced that it snowed in MI year round because it seemed like every time I visited it was snowing.

Good morning everyone! Not much going on around here today, it's raining pretty hard. I have my monthly Bunko game tonight, made a pineapple and pecan cheese ball to bring.
QOTD-I can only remember always wanting to be a forest ranger. I went away to college to get my degree in Forestry and Conservation. My dad became severely ill, so I left school and came home. I went to school locally for my nursing degree. The closest thing to forestry now for me is my summer job at the Visitor Center for Glacier Park:-)
B-Yogurt w/chia, flax and pumpkin seeds
L-Premier shake
D-not sure, pot luck style at Bunko tonight
E-Walk if it stops raining
Hope you all have a good Wednesday!
Hi all,
I woke up so sad today... feeling really vulnerable -- I think its the large number of tragedies - hurricanes, massacres, wild fires, etc, coupled with the political situation, plus some family concerns. But it was a tough day. I maintained the diet today in spite of the emotional turmoil.
QOTD: This is an interesting one for me. I remember wanting to be a teacher and a minister (nun at the time) and my mother reacting with such anger saying that she thought I'd be wasting my life if I did this. I left those dreams behind, went into technology, and wandered between several careers before landing at my final choice. I changed careers at age 50 and became a minister, teaching emotional literacy and other social skills to incarcerated men and women. I loved this work and its interesting that I knew it when I was a child but lost my connection to my own values.
breakfast - salmon
lunch- cold chicken and spiralized cucumber salad
dinner - beef stroganoff
snack - atkins bar and a glass of wine.
I'm still walking every day, and still gaining weight while sticking to plan... what a bother.
