Good Morning! I took the kids out to the diner near our house for the first time since surgery, last night. I realized that it's not at all WLS friendly. I ordered meatloaf and got a hot meatloaf sandwich slathered in gravy. So I had to dig out the meat and scrape off the gravy for the few bites that I ate. Oh well, at least the kids enjoyed their pie. My husband returns home from a trip today, and I'm glad for that too! We only have a few busy days and then I'll be gone for most of a week.

QOTD: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did it come true? I can't remember wanting to do anything but work in IT. Sadly though, that was the influence of my father who knew I needed a practical career aspiration and less to do with fanciful kid dreams. But, here I am working in IT like he always dreamed of! I do remember my brother spent a good part of his childhood wanting to be a garbage man. He's a heavy machinery mechanic and when he moved home from FL he interviewed at a waste management company and we never let him live it down.

Good morning! My wife works for a theater company, and it's opening night, so Teddy and Inwill be home alone. I might stop for some salmon because she doesn't like it. Anyone else have a go-to meal that you eat when your spouse isn't home?

QOTD - as a kid, I wanted to be a writer (I still do . . .), but in fourth grade I started reading my mom's gardening books and decided I wanted to do something with plants. I teach vocational horticulture, so that worked out pretty well.

B - 2% Fairlife latte, cottage cheese.

L - chicken salad

S - protein shake

D - probably salmon

E - yoga video

water and vitamins on track

I would eat eggs, eggs, and more eggs if I didn't have my husband and kids to make some variety for. My husband is the least picky person on the planet though, so I can make him pretty much anything I want!

Art doesn't eat fish, so whenever he's out of town I make ALL THE FISH :) Since Lance and I love it!

When I'm home alone, I tend to just do leftovers. Since I'm boring and don't like cooking for myself.

Cooking for myself is the worst. My meals are leftovers or a piece of meat on a plate with nothing on it or with it. My interest in amazing meals to eat is almost nothing. Food is a chore

Ditto :P And I tend to not even bother to heat it up.

I love to cook for people, though!

Happy Wednesday! Only 2 days before the weekend! I took a short day yesterday and DH and I went to the beach (on October 10!). I suspect it was the last of 2017.

QOTD: I wanted to be a doctor, but dropped that for a variety of reasons especially because I was pretty squeamish as a child. But I have continued to be intrigued by medical information so I do a lot of research about medical issues and can advocate for family members at times. I did go for a year in college leading to a medical assistant career, but ultimately switched back to a traditional program. For the most part my career has been IT oriented at an insurance company.

1.5 years post-op (maintenance). 21 work days to retirement (11/13).

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Emiepies egg salad

D: Shrimp, veggies

S: baked apple

I didn't realize that I had medical aspirations until it was too late. I also love to research medically related stuff. That started when I really started taking care of my diabetes 12 or so years ago. The university I work for has a PA program that I'd love to do, but frankly, can't afford in time or money!

I love how PA and nurse practitioner careers have grown over the years. I often find it more satisfying to meet with them than the MD.

QOTD: I always wanted to be a news reporter or anchor - and I'll never forget the first week of college we were told the chances to making it were slim - way to discourage a bunch of excited freshman! After starting out in HR -which I loved, I ended up taking a temp job in an administrative position because I was paying people more than I was making and was offered a job at MGH making about 6K more than I could in HR (in 1986ish). It was in the legal department where I learned about IP Law (patent/trademark/copyright). I went from there to a law firm and have worked in a firm or corporate legal department ever since. Not exactly what the extrovert in me had in mind, but the money is good and i was able to work part time when my kids were small so it was ideal.

B: probably 1/2 english muffin with some cherry jam we picked up at a farmstand, some protein to offset - either an egg or some yogurt

L: leftover meatballs

D: roastbeef dinner, veg - not sure what yet

E: hoping to walk, it's a nice day
