How low is too low?

The only guidance I had from my nut about calories was to keep it under 800. Most of the advice on here says to keep it closer to 600, so I aim for around 600 but with a max of 800. This morning, when I was putting my meals into My Fitness Pal, my calorie count was 497. This is mostly because the shrimp I planned for dinner is only 100 calories, even when cooked in a little butter. Is it ok to be this low? I can easily add in a string cheese or two if necessary. Conversely, if this calorie level is ok, I might start planning to have shrimp for lunch on a regular basis.

It's fine. I made a very slow progression to 800 calories, not getting there on a normal basis until about 6 months out. I never 'tried' to get to any number of calories. I just stayed under a certain number and counted protein.

Hi Erin! I was reading your stats and was really thrilled to see how well you have done. Congratulations I to weigh 218 lb but I am only 5 feet tall. I am excited to get started. And I just want to say that it's nice to say hello to a Cape Cod person. I am now living in Tennessee and everything they do here is fried! But I love Tennessee very much and unless I lived on Cape Cod I would never return to Massachusetts. Haha. Anyway I just want to say how proud I am of you!

I'm getting at least 80 grams a day.
