11 Day post Op had soda
I am 11 day post op and had coke. I was out all day and forgot my water. My husband keep a pack of cokes in the cars refrigerator and since i'm pretty much fresh out of surgery we kept putting off buying my waters for the car we were driving from Delaware to Virginia and there was not rest stop for miles so I drank a can- well sipped slowly. The only thing reaction I had were a few burps and thats all. Am I going to die I don't feel bad. I drank it about 5 hours ago.
You won't die but you might feel crappy later. And you might find that you want to have more sugar. Good lesson - start keeping a pack of water with the pack of coke.

Carbonation cannot stretch your pouch. Many people have bad gas from it, but you won't injure yourself.
Your body absolutely does NOT need the carbs and calories from soda. You shouldn't be drinking it until you reach goal, if at all.
If you cannot stick to your post-op plan at less than two weeks out, you're in for trouble.

I didn't even touch soda until 10 months post surgery, and then I took one sip and belched like I'd drank a whole can. Since then I've had one now and then, but I make it go flat before I drink it. Can't stand the carbonation, but like the flavor (Diet Barq's Root Beer only, and maybe 2 a month at most).
