How long does the bariatric surgery process take in Calgary

I have just been referred for bariatric surgery in Calgary. I'm wondering if anybody can tell me what the wait is like for the entire process from start to finish? I have ready that the wait is 7 to 10 years, but my doctor tells me it's more like 9 months to a year.

I seriously doubt the wait time is 7-10 years. That sounds like something a republican in the US would say about the Canadian medical system. Listen to what your doctor says, he knows more about the local process than anyone else.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.

I would listen to your doctor. Only places I've heard of extreme wait times, are in some of the maritime provinces, mostly due to lack of surgeons. Hopefully its improved since I read that stat.

I'm from Ontario, and it averages 1 year to a year and a half, sometimes less. From start to finish for me it was 11 months.

Good luck with your journey!
