Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Friday 9/29/17
Morning, VSGers! Happy National Coffee Day! I hope you all plan to get over-caffeinated (or decaffeinated) on someone else's dime today. It's Jon's birthday and we're heading to VT early tomorrow morning, so we'll be dropping the kids off with my aunt and uncle tonight and heading to dinner at a local smokehouse.
QOTD: How do you take your coffee? Black? Lots of sweetener or cream? No coffee at all? I take mine with a splash of premier protein and 1 TBSP of heavy cream, first thing in the morning. The rest of the day I try to do decaf with (1) Splenda and 2% milk.
8 months post-op/Maintenance/136.7lbs
M1: Coffee, PP, Miralax, HC
M2: Fage Total w/ SF Pudding Mix and Almonds
M3: Chicken Thigh & Broccoli
M4: Ribs & Cornbread (planning for the most calorie dense thing I could think of choosing, not sure if that's what I'll have).
S: Probably not a lot, in case I need to save calories for dinner.
E: I'd like to get in a run, but we'll see. I'm going to be hiking a ton this weekend, so no big deal if I don't.

I don't like coffee very much but occasionally I mix it with a premier protein drink. I work nights this weekend so no plans. The little boys will be at my parent's house. The daughter will be at a volleyball tournament this weekend with school, and the older boys I never see. (They're 21 and too busy running with their friends). I am really excited to have the house to myself this weekend to sleep in during the day.
I'm meeting with my surgeon at 9. Hopefully he's pleased with my progress. I'm also getting anxious to start exercising (can't believe I'm saying that!). I would like to do the couch-2-5k and resume my kettle bell workouts.
QOTD- I love coffee. Pre-surgery I drank it with a lot of half and half. As some of you know, I experimented a lot post-op to find something I liked that had fewer calories. I landed on a latte made with 2% Fairlife. I love it, but it's not great for mornings when I'm running late (like yesterday).
B - 2% Fairlife latte, cottage cheese
L - chicken salad, green beans
S - protein shake
D - Reuben roll-up (deli corned beef stuffed with sauerkraut and topped with Swiss cheese and light thousand island dressing - baked)
E - kettle bell workout (as long as my surgeon clears me for exercise)
Water and vitamins on track

Wow! It seems you can eat regular foods at only 4 weeks out. I didn't think that was possible. What was your post op foods?
I'm actually in my 6th week. First two weeks were liquid, next two were purees, and I started soft solids at the beginning of the 5th week on 9/18. My one month appointment is just a bit late because my surgeon was on vacation.

I was never a coffee drinker until later in life - and now I love it - once a day, and only cold...DD, cold brew, french vanilla, 1 splenda, 8 whole milk - and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, 1 pump of pumpkin or butter pecan - useless sugar and calories, but I can't help it. I try to just have the vanilla - which is fake sugar, but somehow pumpkin often comes out of my mouth when ordering. I just get 1 pump - which is about 60 calories.
B: cheerios -
L: leftover ravioli - made fresh at the ravioli store : p
D: idk, had dental work yesterday, staying on soft foods

Good morning! I finally hit the 160s this morning. Happy dance. It took two months to lose these last 10 lbs. 11 to go to goal.
QOTD: I drink my coffee with splenda and powdered creamer. It is my one vice. Love it.
B: coffee and yogurt
L: chicken and salad
D: TBD - probably going out with my honey

I'm happy and not happy that it's Friday because I have infinite to do right now. No morning fitness classes as a result, but I will be leaving the house around noon for my monthly massage. I can't comfortably lay on my stomach yet, so I guess it'll be all on my back!
I had a great, but ridiculously short, trip up to NY to see Stephen and Owen King talk about their new book. It was a super awesome trip and, wonder of wonders, I lost 2.5 pounds? So that's cool. Especially considering I have trip-constipation.
And! I got my shipping notice for my Mellow Sous Vide! I pre-ordered this thing 3 years ago? Forever ago. I'm so excited. If I have any free time today I might bond with a sous vide cookbook to figure out what I'll cook first!
QOTD: Never been a coffee drinker. Really, any of those things that people say, "Oh, it's an acquired taste" tend to always leave me wondering, "why would I want to acquire it?" I use caffeine very sparingly to ensure that when I do need it, it'll work for me. (And growing up around black coffee drinkers, I pretty much think all ya'll who don't drink it black don't actually LIKE coffee - you just like all the stuff you put IN the coffee. Which has also never encouraged me to drink coffee!)
1: protein shake
2: leftover crispy shredded beef
3: Prosciutto-Wrapped Pork Tenderloin with Herb Pan Sauce, roasted acorn squash
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope
