I did not know that there are staples in VSG surgery. My surgery is October 18. Where are the staples?
There should be three rows of staples on the side of the stomach where the other portion was removed. I was told that over time, scar tissue will grow over the staple line. These staples are permanent.
This is a matter of preference. My VSG was laparoscopic, as most are, and I have five teeny incisions. They each had one steristrip. No staples.

There are always staples on the stomach pouch and these are permanent. Scar tissue forms over them to provide a strong seal.
How your incisions are closed is generally up to surgeon preference, although they could be closed with staples, sutures, steri-strips, surgical glue, or a combination of these.
Thank you all for the clarification. My VSG is going to be laporiscopic . I understand the staples along the new stomach stays and poses no problem.
