I'm back. Surgery Date October 10th. Finally
Congrats!
I packed the following:
chapstick
charging cable, wall plug, external battery for phone
phone
glasses case
kindle
pair of panties
I didn't touch the kindle, the hospital provided everything else I needed.
I wore a loose, comfy dress to the hospital in the morning and wore it with the pair of panties I'd packed home.
I also had a pillow in the car for the ride home to press into my stomach over bumps.

Congratulations !
I would keep it simple as far as what to bring. Definitely phone charger, chapstick, flip flops/ slippers, house coat, toiletries, but I certainly didn't have any desire to be online, or on the phone after surgery. I mostly slept, sipped, walked, and prayed to toot lol.
My advice would be to listen to what the doctor, and nurses advise, and be patient with the recovery process. Everyone is different so don't try to compare your recovery to others. I am 10 days post VSG, and slowly recovering.
Good luck..
Vertical sleeve, Sept 15
Congrats!
I agree on just bringing a few essentials. Chapstick, phone charger, pillow for the ride home. When I wasn't walking, I had various physical and occupational therapists and nutrition nurses in my room that I didn't have much time for anything else.
I packed what the others did plus my IPAD with a couple of movies loaded on. I was in for 2 nights, so I needed the distraction of the IPAD once I was done being sleepy from anesthesia.
