Which protein powder do you like?
My VSG surgery is in 4 weeks. I'm trying to test shakes . Which brand and flavors do you like?

I could never get a protein powder to not taste horrible so I just gave up. I drink premier protein RTD shakes as coffee creamer.
Optimum nutrition double rich chocolate (it's darker than most chocolates so it's not as sweet)
syntrax mint cookie.
I mix the two in unsweetened almond milk in a blender bottle. Yum.

Don't bother testing shakes just yet. Most people find that their tastes change a LOT post-op, and something they liked (and bought a 10lb tub of) before surgery is really gross after WLS.
Everybody's tastes are very different as well. Some people adore Premier Protein, I could never gag it down. I like Syntrax Nextar, other folks are weirded out by the stuff that's more like Kool-Aid than chocolate milk.

Sooooooooooooooo true! taste changes happened week to week for me. Luckily hubby will drink anything and my nephew is a fitness nut, so once I grew weary of a brand or flavor, I passed it along . . . .

Thank you all!! I've just learned about taste change after surgery. I've heard Unjury protein powder has great flavor and mix well.
Surgery date scheduled for Oct 18!
Unjury has a sample pack that gives you 2 individual packets of each of their flavors. I started with that and now buy the Chocolate Splendor regularly.

I tried a bunch before surgery, and put up with the surgical team mandated New Directions brand of powders. I found a few I liked and bought some. Then after surgery my system stomped its little feet and forbid me from having anything vaguely sweet. This made the first month really challenging! Luckily I can now tolerate small and occasional sweet foods.
