It is impossible to cause a leak or stretch your stomach by drinking too much - you've got a functional pyloric valve which means liquid leaves your stomach fairly rapidly.
Also - when was your VSG? According to your signature you've still got 11 days to go before surgery.

It will get easier- you are still early out. Keep sipping! I had back pain- not from drinking too little water, but related to the surgery. 2 reasons- constipation or there was something about the surgery (or perhaps weightloss) that triggered it. Eventually, it fully resolved.

You are probably in ketosis from lack of carbs. Thirst/cotton mouth is a common side effect of ketosis. High protein/little carbs can be rough on the kidneys as well. I would demand a a lab test called BUN/Creatine just to rule out anything wrong with your kidneys due to the back pain. Hopefully this is unlikely, but better safe than sorry.
