Almost a year and only down 30

Weigh and track every bite you eat. Cut calories and carbs. It's the only way to know how much you are eating, and to lose.

Nothing else matters. Everyone has a tipping point. Eat more, gain weight. Eat less, and lose. Every single person.

You've been balancing on the tip. Sooner or later you'll go higher and start gaining. Choose to go the other way now, and lose.

You've got a lot of good advice that's posted here daily for people who are struggling, but I'd like to offer something different.

If you know in your heart of hearts that you're giving it your best and still not seeing results, then your body's metabolism is likely really blown. While the VSG is a miracle for some, there are several sleeve patients that got revisions to DS or RNY because eating less just wasn't enough for them to lose weight. The DS and RNY introduce malabsorption of fat and calories (RNY for about 2 yrs, DS forever) and nutrients. This literally changes the way your body metabolises food in a big way. The trade off is that you have to supplement a lot more. Many who went for revisions also found that their sleeve was misshapen and it had to be done again in the process.

Well duh, how is that nearly 6 years out I didn't realize that the DS malabsorption calorically speaking was for life? I thought it was just slower to bounce back than the Rny. Goes to show why researching prior to decisions is so important! I ruled out DS due to vitamin malabsorption and high supplement need which does not coexist well with my very ADHD tendency to forget taking supplements, so still the right decision- just surprised!

Given your forgetfulness, you were wise to not choose DS, indeed.

The sleeve was good enough to get attention and respect as a 2 part DS that never needed the second part, so we know that for some people, it's perfect. Others, however, simply need more. Sadly, some of them don't find out until they've had a surgery not work for them.

I feel so bad for people who have the surgery and then do not get the help they need to lose the weight.

Weight loss, as Grim said, comes down to one thing. It is really all about calories. There are combinations of foods that may be healthier alternatives, but the only thing that matters in the end is whether you burn more calories than you eat.

During rapid weight loss stage, I stayed at 500 calories a day. I advanced slowly to 1500 calories a day and my weight loss stopped there.

When I want to lose now, I understand that my calories have to stay very low. I cannot do that without My Fitness Pal and my digital scale.

The good news is that once you make up your mind to lose the weight, it will suddenly become easy.

Take the first steps and signup for My Fitness Pal and get a digital food scale. Tell yourself that you no longer need much food because your body can "eat up" the stored fat that it has saved in case its food supply gets cut off.

Then cut off its food supply and stick to meat, eggs and cheeses. Weigh and measure them. Make it a game to get the weight off. It will be the easiest weight loss you ever did, once you understand what to do.

I agree with everyone you has said you need to start weighing, tracking, and logging every single thing you put into your mouth - including any liquids that have calories. This is the only way you can know for sure what you're consuming and what you're consuming is the only thing that matters. Exercise is awesome for overall health, but when it comes to weight loss, all that matters is consumption.

Right now, you are consuming at maintenance levels. Once you accurately track what your intake is, you'll be able to modify it to get into weight loss levels.

Thank you all so much. I am starting today with my fitness pal and I do have a scale. Making sure I cut out bread cereals and pasta even though I don't have bread or pasta and 1 small cup of special kitchen protein cereal a day. I have a surgery on Monday to help the sleep apnea where I can get more sleep and energy. Will check back and let you know how things are in a few days:)
