Has anyone else experienced back pain after their surgery? I was sleeved on Aug.28th and for the past few days my back has been killing me.

I think this is common and caused by the way you were positioned during surgery as well as by trapped gas. If in doubt always call your surgeons office.

It may well be from the gas they inflate you with, or sitting and sleeping differently because of the incisions. It should go away soon.

For me it happened due to not being able to sleep the way I normally slept. Then, when I could sleep the way I normally sleep, my body was all different so my spine would be in a different alignment which also caused discomfort!

Also, as you lose weight, your center of gravity changes and you end up using different muscles to keep yourself erect. Some of the pain can be from those muscles, which aren't used to being used.

This happened to me for 100 pounds or so. It sucked!

I had intermittent upper back pain for months after surgery. I was told it was normal. I was also told I may expect back pain after surgery due to weight loss and your posture adjusting.

I had back pain for a few days after surgery. When I asked about it, the resident said that it wasn't uncommon because they tape you to the table and rotate you vertical so gravity helps pull the other organs out of the way. My hips have been hurting too, and I think it's because I've been very tense which affects how I walk.

Hi! I am in the same boat as you. I have been experiencing back pain also. We are sleeve sisters! Aug 28th for me also. I asked my surgeon about it today at my week follow up and he said it could be due to fact of drinking too fast. I'm not convinced that is the reason though. How are you doing 9 days out? I miss food and can't wait to be on purees. Other then that feeling and healing good. A little sore but managable.

I've had good days and bad. I think I went back to work to soon. This recovery has been a lot harder for me than when I had my Lap Band put in and my c-section. With this surgery I had my band taken out, the sleeve done, a hernia repair and a liver biopsy done. Down 15 lbs though.
