Light-headed and a bit weak
I am 5 1/2 weeks out from surgery, on purée food for another 4 days, and meeting my water and protein goals. The past few days I have felt weak and dizzy when standing after lying down or sitting. I have a call out to my surgeon's office to see what she says. Is it possible that I no longer need my blood pressure medicine? I checked last week and it was normal, and not low, but I ended a short 5 day stall with 7 consecutive weight loss days and I'm down 10.2 pounds in a week. Could this just be my body adjusting to the almost 45 pound loss or the quick 10? Anyone else experience this on your journey?
This is not abnormal. Many, many people need to stop blood pressure medication soon after surgery for similar reasons. If your surgeon doesn't get back to you soon, please contact your PCP.

Sounds a little like orthostatic hypotension. your blood pressure drops after changing from lying to sitting and sitting to standing. Some folks get dizzy and sometimes feel like they may pass out. You might just want to make sure you have something near by you can hold on to when you stand up, just in case. Calling your surgeon was a good thing. You may want to call your PCP, or whoever manages your blood pressure.
Yes, if you're still on BP medications, they very easily may need stopped or adjusted, but you need to do so at your physician's instructions. Some of the meds can be dangerous if stopped abruptly.
I was on 2 BP meds with surgery. I stopped 1 within days post-op, and the other within about 6 weeks as I recall. My BP is back to textbook normal now and if I'd stayed on the BP meds, I'd have ended up passing out at some point. :)
Call your doc.

This is extremely common the first year after surgery. It's orthostatic hypotention, and you can confirm it with a blood pressure cuff.
Drink more. Then drink even more. Add salt. And check with your doc about the BP meds. I had to go off mine right after surgery.

Blood pressure medicine is probably at least needing to be reduced if not eliminated. I don't take any at all, but naturally have always had low BP. My sodium gets low (because everyone said limit sodium intake) and I would faint. Once I figured this out, I salt vigorously and haven't fainted since.
