Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Sunday 9/3/17
Good Morning, VSGers! Today it's pouring rain and the high is only the upper 50's. I'm glad we got our hiking out the way yesterday, it was a perfect day for it! It was a great hike for the kids. About 2 miles round trip and 1,100ft of elevation gain. Coming down was trickier because it was a bit muddy and it's a steep slope. I'm brainstorming a couple more hikes we can get in before it starts to snow on the higher elevations!
Today I'm planning on going to GNC to stock up on some protein bars and protein cake bites. It's a 45-minute drive, but I might as well find something I can do in the rain!
QOTD: If money wasn't an object, and neither was your career, where would you choose to live? We'd live on Ocracoke Island, NC. It's a two-mile long island and just gorgeous. We stayed there one time in March and loved the culture and community of the island in the off-season. We've been for many day trips during the summer as well. I could see us retiring there someday, as prices of houses aren't completely ridiculous. When we stayed in March there was a neighbor of ours that was a year round resident and she had 13 chickens in a coop under her deck. She let the kids go in and play with them and collect eggs. That would be me!

Hiya! I woke up at 7am this morning instead of 8am, which has been my normal for the last few weeks. My body was VERY resistant to this different time. UGH. Hopefully it'll get with the program soon since I have a busy day planned! Today is Ren Faire day! Woo! Art and I are going, I'm dressing up, and we're meeting up with friends followed by a meal at this crazy diner nearby the Faire. It'll be fun times I hope. I've overdone it a bit recently for someone who is only 20 days post-op so I need to make sure that I don't overdo it today.
QOTD: West Chester, PA. I want to be close to my mom, I want to be close to my school. And I love how walkable the town is and all the locally owned shops and restaurants.
1: protein shake
2+: LOL, it's Ren Faire day! I used to go to the Faire to eat and now I don't because there isn't much in the way of protein that I like, I'm not interested in putting the non-protein stuff into my body, and then there's my fructose malabsorption to contend with. That said, I ALWAYS get "Ribbon Fryes" there which are home made potato chips all in a long line. At the diner afterward, I will likely get some Gyro+Tzatziki thing. No idea if this will be dinner or earlier or if I'll need to eat later once home or what.
liquid and vites: on track
exercise: nope, not until the 25th

There are definitely lots of people wandering around with turkey legs, but I've never been impressed with them. To me, they're always overcooked and taste like ham :P

Man, they are doing it wrong. My family is all about the smoked meat (I have an Uncle that somehow started a business smoking meat for parties/weddings/etc because he was so good at it). My father built a spit for over his fire pit out of an old telecom cabinet and motor. Smoked meat = delicious. I'm very sad they get it wrong there!

Ditto. Art smokes meat and when I finally let him smoke a turkey I was astounded it could taste so good due to the few I'd had at Faires!

Good morning! Up and out on the streets just after 5 a.m. today for a 13.5k walk. Should be a dull day, seeing the in-laws for lunch and then nothing the rest of the day.
Got sick of looking 10 years older, so I shaved off my beard yesterday. Now sporting a goatee (not a vandyke) and enjoying not having to brush my face in the morning. Still feels weird not having a moustache... I've had one since high school and this is the first time without (excepting two surgeries where they had to shave it off). The weight loss has made me look 10 years younger, and this new goatee makes me look like a 20-something (shhhh, let a middle-aged man dream, will ya?).
QOTD: I'd live in Vancouver (B.C.) in the spring/summer/early autumn and in Phoenix during the winter. Maybe Seattle.
B: protein shake
L: hamburger patty
S: protein shake
D: ???
E: 13.5k walk

Morning all! 2 night shifts in the hospital with Grammy. Thank heavens she finally slept last night.
QOTD: while parents are here, Pismo Beach, CA. Love that little beach town. Is a bit crowded now, so maybe Marrow Bay? Definitely ocean front. After parents, Oleggio Italy. I fell in love with tat town. Or some place like it.
not really keepin track of food this weekend due to upheaval, family comin into town to see Grammy, bedside vigils. As a nurse, I've seen this for years. But being in it, it's a total unknown. Like I've never known it before.
I'm back..we have been very busy these past few days opening up our shop. We are still getting organized but we are all moved in and open for business and things are going well. We took in our first deer Thursday night and the hunter picked up his meat this morning..so I framed our first dollar made and happily pocketed the rest. These have been some long nights and I have had no trouble sleeping or getting in my movement for the day.
QOTD We would move to Maine! My husband was born there and his moms side of the family all still live there. It is gorgeous and so quiet and peaceful, though for a Carolina girl it may take some getting used to winter! BIG temperature difference!
B premier caramel in decaf coffee
S string cheese
L chocolate premier shake
D not sure yet..if no deer come in we may go out and enjoy a quiet meal before things get crazy around here. Or I have leftover grilled chicken breast and turkey tenderloin from last night.
Vitamins and water good. Exercise: working at the shop..hope all this lifting gets me some muscles
