Good Morning, VSGers! Can you believe tomorrow it's going to be September? Up here that's the start of the end because fall is just a nose dive into winter. Can you tell how positive I am about our climate? Better that than what the folks in Houston are suffering, I truly have no reason to complain.

My trainer ended up with a sick kid yesterday. I think we're destined to just not meet up for our last work out! I got my TRX Suspension trainer in the mail yesterday though, and Jon and I both banged out a good work out with that and our free weights. It was strange to start a fitness program and not only not have to modify, but in some sets, I needed to move onto the more advanced progressions to get anything out of it.

QOTD: What is your favorite time of day? Mine is the time between 5:30-7:00 in the morning. I never thought you'd hear me say that. I was never an early riser. But, now that I am I really cherish those minutes to drink my coffee and spend some time alone in the quiet.

7 months post-op/Maintenance/137.9lbs

M1: Premier Protein, Coffee, Miralax and HC

M2: Fage Total, SF Pudding Mix, slivered almonds and Blueberries

M3: Turkey Sausage Link & Veggie

M4: Bacon & Cheddar Burger (1/2, no bun) and Asparagus

S: I need to start adding in my snacks in more of a planned manner, maybe I have to add the 5th meal again. Not sure yet.

E: Haven't gotten into a groove as far as what I'm doing at home, but I think I'll try out the TRX trainer again.

P.S. A big honking spider just came out from under my desk and I lost it. If I'm not here tomorrow you'll know it ate me

Good morning! I am trying to get myself back on track this morning after a bad night. I had 1/2 a slice of ice cream cake for my husband's birthday, which put me slightly over my calories for the day... but then I was hungry later and couldn't sleep, and I ended up scarfing down a protein bar and a big spoonful of PB. ::hangs head in shame:: So frustrated with myself!

QOTD: I guess I'd go with sunset/dusk. I do enjoy a quiet morning sitting outside in a sweatshirt with a cup of coffee, but I also hate getting up in the morning, so that doesn't happen unless I'm on vacation!

B: Coffee w/ 2% Fairlife milk and SF Torani syrup on the way to work, then a Siggi's yogurt

S: Quest bar

L: 1 oz. turkey pepperoni, reduced-fat string cheese, 1 oz. roasted chickpeas

S: 1.25 oz. mixed nuts w/ 1 Tb. lower-sugar dried cranberries and a light Babybel cheese

D: I may pick up some falafel or chicken shwarma over greens from a Middle Eastern joint on my way home.

S: Another Quest bar, if I have enough calories left... I will try to avoid the leftover ice cream cake!!!

E: I took the dogs for a 20 min. walk last night, and I'll try to do that again tonight.

Are you not a fan of denser protein like chicken, fish, pork, and beef? I noticed that you have a lot of nuts listed in your daily menus, which chew up calories really fast. Also, protein bars which pack in 200 calories really quick. I find that when I eat just meat, I literally can not even eat enough calories to maintain. So, I balance dense protein, a very small amount of veggies and a bunch of good fats.

Yeah, I was vegetarian for a long time and still am not a huge meat eater. I gag at the smell of any and all fish/seafood, and the texture of certain meats like steak is a dealbreaker for me. :/ It's something I need to work on.

If that were the case for me, I'd care less about carbs and eat beans, tofu, flax, etc.

I'm trying to cut my serving of nuts back--going to 1.25 oz. instead of 1.5 today, then I'll work to 1 oz., and maybe I'll be able to nix them all together.

I tend to grab Quest bars because they are quick and easy and portable... and tasty. I think I'll try and cut back to one a day and add in some better protein sources.

I'm meeting with my nutritionist next week, and maybe she can help me with some ideas.

Eggs would be a good thing for me to add more of into my diet.

I agree! Eggs are awesome. Also, if you like sausage type things (re: the pepperoni) maybe something like prosciutto roll ups with cheese? Volpi Roltini has some really tasty options that I love. What about yogurt? I like nuts in yogurt because you don't need many to make an impact.

Oh, good ideas! Thanks!

Haha... sadly, my meat preferences tend toward the more processed things like sausage, ham, bacon, ground meat, etc. Gets around the weird textural aversion I have to "meaty" meats, I guess...

I do like yogurt--I am currently mourning the demise of the Chobani Simply 100 line. :( I used to get plain Greek yogurt and add in protein powder, stevia, and either plain canned pumpkin and spices or unsweetened cocoa powder and then top it with a small amount of nuts or low-sugar granola. Maybe I should go back to doing that, at least for an evening "treat" instead of Quest bars.

I would totally do ham/cheese roll ups, ground beef taco salad, bacon and eggs, sausage and eggs, etc. I have a flax meal mug muffin recipe that only has 6g of carbs and works very well to make an egg sandwich.

I do Fage Total whole fat yogurt and mix it with 1 TBSP of SF pudding mix. Then I add a small amount of fruit, sunflower seeds, pecans, slivered almonds or flaked coconut. I've also just added 1 packet of stevia and that sweetens it fine too, but the pudding makes it almost like a treat. I like Dannon Light and Fit Greek too with PB2 or SF Jam mixed in.

For me, I try to make Quest bars and other protein bars an emergency food (Like, when I'm in the car for lunch) because my brain thinks they are candy and then I want them all the time.

Another great treat I just started doing is 1/4 cup Ricotta, 1 TBSP chopped nuts, a drizzle of SF Torani syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon. SO GOOD.

To add some fats, I like 1/2 an avocado with a scoop of the Fage Total in the center or a scoop of hummus. I love olives too.

I need to change my yogurt back to the plain, whole fat...but need something to go in it. I am going to try the SF pudding mix and the SF jams. What SF pudding flavor do you like the best in yogurt Erin?
