Whatcha Eating Today VSGers? Thursday 8/24/17
Good morning! Yesterday, I was mentally burnt out on the experiment that is maintenance so I just ate protein. It's funny how comforting it was to throw some chicken on a plate and not care about adding fat/veggies, etc. My calories were low though so I can't do that for too long. I'm planning to repeat it today though and then regroup for the weekend.
QOTD: What is one "luxury" expense that you refuse to give up? I pay someone to clean my house weekly. I started it 2 years ago when we listed our last house for sale and I've never stopped. I love having a clean house that I don't have to think about! Plus, our house is large (3,300 sq/ft) and we have Airbnb guests in/out of it. It just makes my life easier.
A couple months ago I would have said, my personal trainer. But, next week will be my last week with him. He gave me a "fly little birdie" speech and told me I'm ready to train on my own at my free gym access. That will save me $250/mo that I can sack away towards the plastic surgery fund! I just bought myself a TRX suspension trainer for home as well and I think I'll sign up for my first (running) 5k.

I'm 5'7" tall. Right now I spend two days per week in the gym lifting. One day is chest, back, biceps and triceps and the other day is legs and shoulders. Currently, my only cardio is walking 2-3 days per week with a co-worker on lunch break (3 miles at a 16-17 minute/mile pace). I also get general cardio from the fact that we are an active family and hike quite a bit on the weekends. I did a lot more cardio (mostly interval running on the treadmill) up until I hit a certain body fat percentage (below 24%). I plan to take a kettle bell class in the fall as well.

Oh gosh, I am only 5'4"... but I don't think I can get to less than 140... not even sure my body will let me, my yoyo dieting have destroy my ability to lose weight, or maybe my age, I am 48, my surgeon told me I should make 160 my goal ???..., but I am hopeful I can lose more than that... thank you for sharing, as for me and my family we are the opposite of active... ?... but I am working on changing that!!! I went to the gym today ð?'ª And even did like 3 of the machines.... next to the BIG muscular people ?... i feel so out of place ... but I did it anyway!!!
thank you Erin!! Keep it up!!!
Some people have to restrict calories pretty low to lose and then to maintain. Some of the women here maintain on 900-1100 calories per day. I did 600-800 calories during loss phase but I never had problems continually dropping weight at that calorie intake.
Of course, I've yo-yo'd as well, I don't think there are many of us that haven't. I'm 34, but I know there are many women here in their 60's who have gotten to normal BMI.

Good morning! I just got a new fitness tracker. My old Garmin's display crapped out, and I had just stopped using it late last fall... which just happens to coincide with me giving up on tracking in MyFitnessPal, and starting to regain weight... probably not a coincidence! So I got a Fitbit Flex 2, which I chose because it's waterproof, and the actual tracking component can be removed and put in different holders.
QOTD: Regular eyebrow and lip waxing appointments. It's so much quicker and easier to have someone do it for me, and tweezing my own brows always makes me sneezy!
B: Coffee with 2% Fairlife milk and sugar-free Torani salted caramel syrup on the way to work, then a Siggi's strawberry rhubarb yogurt, 1/2 a blueberry Quest bar
S: Rest of the Quest bar; a cup of sugar-free chai made with 2% Fairlife milk
L: 1 oz. turkey pepperoni; 1 oz. Parmesan cheese; 2 Tb. roasted red pepper hummus with 6 baby carrots
S: 1.5 oz. mixed nuts, light Babybel cheese, 1/3 c. cantaloupe (forgot to eat it yesterday!)
D: A new Indian place is having its grand opening this evening, so I'll have probably either some kind of chicken or paneer dish, skip the rice, but have a small piece of naan. And steal a sip of my husband's mango lassi. ;)
S: Another Quest bar, maybe. I also have a pint of Halo Top in the freezer.
Accountability: Yesterday afternoon I caved in to caffeine cravings and had another coffee, which I don't usually do. And I snacked last night on 1/2 oz. of roasted chickpeas and a Quest bar that put me over my calorie and carb allotment for the day. I also ended up not going for a walk because my husband didn't want to go, and I can't walk my blind dog and the other dogs at the same time... however, I could have taken him for a short walk and then come back and taken the other two for a separate one. I definitely let excuses get the best of me!
