Eclipse!

Are you doing anything special for the eclipse and what's your totality?
Phoenix will be 63 degrees apparently. I have friends who've traveled different places to be in the dark. I feel like I'm in the dark most of the time anyway just being me. What about a menu? I've heard Moon Pies are selling out in the south. Not on my diet plan, however.
I've got my science-approved glasses and will be enjoying something like 80ish percent totality here. I can't wait :D

Best wishes on your surgery - what a great day to do it. I hope you're awake enough to make it to the roof!
ETA: We're supposed to be at 99%!
Here's a cool page to find out info for the eclipse from where you are in the U.S.:

We're similar to you here in Northern NY, I think around 65%. My husband will be on an airplane somewhere between Chicago and Phoenix though. None of have glasses, so I guess we'll be paying attention only to how dark it gets!

You can try the low-cost paper trick... (I meant the two pieces of paper thing mentioned first, not the one with binoculars)
