"Concerns"
Aug 19, 2017
I had gastic sleeve dun, on March 13, 2017, starting my weight, at 350, now I'm at 250. I've been so sick a lot, and let it cross my mind, did I make a mistake with this surgery. On a daily bases I was losing 1 1/2 to 2 pounds a day, until 3 weeks ago, I've plateau, is this normal, or do I need too do something to kick start it back up? I'm also battling with a hiatal hernia, which keeps me from eating more than an 1 tbsp per hour. It cant be repaired until my stomach heals from gastic surgery, which is a slow process, since I'm sick all the time.
I have so many concerns and questions and looking for some insight. So, if you can help me, plz give me a shout out!!!
Did I make a mistake!!
That number seems really high. 1 out of 10 may have some sickness, but maybe for a week or two. This is too much, too long for you.

So at 5 months your surgeon does not think your stomach has healed yet? How much longer does he expect you to wait? By sick, do you mean you are constantly throwing up? Are you on a PPI? If you are and it is not working, get your doctor to prescribe a different one.
Do not just take your doctor's word. Get a second opinion. Being sick all the time is not normal.

You really, really, really should be on a PPI. This could very easily solve your issues. It's very low cost, and very very low risk for the short term.

Oh dear, that is NOT normal.
I'm a bit peeved that your surgeon is blowing you off and not even prescribing a PPI for you to try. You can try with something OTC like Prilosec. You can also call his office and insist on a prescription to see if this is your easy fix. If it's not, pull that ***** hat out of your purse and give him what-for.

losing a pound (or more) a day is really fast. stalls here and there seem normal. it isn't productive to spend time on regret - it seems like you should work with medical professionals to focus on those health issues and try to make the most of it.
Plateaus are normal.
Why does your surgeon think you're not healed yet from surgery? That seems odd. Can you get a second opinion? Have you had an upper endoscopy to check things out?
